Since Minecraft 1.7.2 was released on October 25th we've been putting in a ridiculous amount of work non-stop towards a CraftBukkit for Minecraft 1.7.2 and I am happy to finally be able to announce that we now have development builds available. We strongly suggest that you only use this build if you would like to help us get a Beta build out sooner and are experienced with using unsupported development builds.

WARNING: Minecraft 1.7.2 is an update that requires clients to update before being able to connect.

    What is a Development Build?
A Development build is provided AS IS and COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED. You should only be running these builds if you are completely aware of how to properly make use of them. Support requests of ANY KIND will be removed without warning. If you have to ask where or how to get the development build, you should NOT be running it and posts of that nature will be deleted.

Will plugins break with this build?
Minecraft 1.7 is one of the most involved updates to date, with Mojang having touched a reported ~220k+ lines of code. As a result, a significant amount of the code base has shifted making it difficult to ensure any stability with regards to our API. That being said, it is difficult to determine if plugins will be breaking with our 1.7.2 update and the state of the API in our earlier development builds should NOT be relied upon in any way.

    Known Issues:
    • None

That's because it uses NMS. Expect the plugin author to fix that within the next few days.

Great work guys!! Just want to report a major problem I have found using this on my server.

I have created a new map and I always use WorldBorder to fill out the entire map in the specified border radius. Anyway, it got to 3.3% then WorldBorder gave an error. I didn't think much of this so I decided to make the server public. More of less everything seemed fine until it started to crash. After investigating with removing numerous plugins to narrow down the problem I realised it's actually an issue with the dev build of craftbukkit. The server crashes when it tries to generate a packed ice biome, therefore when a player tries to navigate to that area it just crashes everytime. I've been looking for numerous ways to pre-generate my map the vanilla way but seems a little tricky unless I decided to go into creative and fly across the whole world. This really isn't an option as my map is HUGE! :)

Unfortunately I may have to go back to 1.6.4 until this issue has been resolved.

Once again guys, great work and I really appreciate it.

Awesome! Thanks for putting effort into this. Really, Mojang just needs to stop updating Minecraft to keep it simple, fun, and interactive. They should only make a special update once a year, and give you devs the scripts so you can pre-make the servers for us!

This is fixed in the latest dev build.

  13. Yeah! Go Bukkit!
I honestly wish Mojang would supply you guys with the code and all that so you can get your updates out faster. I mean, You server software is the ONLY reason Minecraft is where it is today!
Of course, now the owner of a server I play on (remaining anonymous) is jumping forward and grabbing this dev build for a PRODUCTION server. He won't even read the warning page on the wiki. Don't say I didn't warn him...

People would wine WAY too much about that! I think the 3 times per year is fine. It's just difficult for Bukkit because they can't see the real source code so they have to do some reverse engineering to merge the changes into their baseline (or I assume that's how it works anyway).

Fortunately for the Bukkit team, 1.7.3 is mostly centered around Twitch integration which most likely won't effect the backend server code.

What will happen to Bukkit once the Plugin API comes out? Will it be deprecated and maybe made into a plugin itself just to add basic extended configurability? I absolutely love Bukkit but for ease of use I will be moving away from third party server software once the Mod API rolls out and the popular plugins I use move over too.

They're working, it's just that mojang changed the way logs are saved. They are now in a subfolder called logs and the older logs are zipped.

2931 has a change, "Add ConsoleAppender from log4j for diff visibility". Not sure if that will help with the logs.

    Everything seems laggier with 1.7.2

    tps is like 3

removed all the plugins that had server log errors.. leaves about 80 working plugins that aren't generating any errors, going through testing most, but just text and shooting arrows.. has extra delay, while logged into a 1.6 server on the same actual server hardware and location that has over 100 plugins, its instant with no lag at 20 tps

how to find out which plugins are causing lag?

Rexel, type /timings merged after having the server up for a few minutes. It will create a new folder (timings) with a file in it. The file will show all plugins and how long each took with processing, ram (I believe), etc.
