CraftBukkit 1.2.5-R4.0 is now available!

    A new CraftBukkit Recommended Build (1.2.5-R4.0) that provides Minecraft 1.2.5 compatibility and fixes issues in CraftBukkit 1.2.5-R3.0 and earlier is now available. As this RB contains a critical dupe exploit fix, upgrading is highly recommended.

    Will plugins break with this build?
    Provided the developers of the plugins you are using are keeping up with the development of Bukkit, all your plugins should work fine.

    Notes:
    This Recommended Build includes an upgrade to the jLine we use in Bukkit. As a result, Windows servers need the Visual C++ 2008 redistributable if you want to be able to see text formatting in your console (or use -nojline to disable jLine if you don't want to).

    Unlike a previous Recommended Build (1.2.5-R2.0), this new RB does not need anything special like ANSICON.

    Known Issues:
    • None.

    Do you know how it would be implemented or anything like that? Just because it's "very good" doesn't mean it should be done here. Also, you got an answer to this already.

    Seeing how as i dont update my server very often in order to actually play it. I'm not sure if all my plugins that are compatible with RB1.0 will be compatible with RB4.0. I saw in a previous poster that there is a way to test this. Anyone know of that method?

    I know what your thinking, test them. Unfortunately, i use alot, and it seems most of the ones i use are choosing to slow down updateing after 1.0 was announced. Its really frustrating because i want to use the latest RB due to the performance enhancements/fixes but am unable because of the huge amount of plugins that haven't even gotten passed 2.0 yet.

    The simple question is ... between 1.0 to 4.0 is there 'anything' that can potentially break my plugins if i begin using 4.0?
     
  9. Easiest way to test the plugins is starting the server with the new bukkit-version. If it doesn't work, just start over with the old version.

    I was afraid of that answer :p. Well when i get to updating my server I'll just cross my fingers and hope it doesn't blow up with the some odd 20-30 plugins i have.
     
  11. The only real problem you could run into is if you've turned off fire spred and creeper explosions since these things can destroy things on the map.

    If you just start the server with the new bukkit and check the console for errors and then shut down the server again nothing of this will happen thought since it won't have time to and without players the map chunks will not be loaded directly.

    But backup is always good if you unsure. :)

    I find it easy to try the plugins this way thought.

    I uploaded R4.0 to my ftp, but it caused quite a lot of trouble on my server. Especially with server restarts! I use Multiplay as my server host, & there seems to be a bug in the code somewhere that prevents data from saving just before a restart, causing my server to roll-back quite a bit before every restart.
    I have managed to fix this problem by rolling back to R3.0, won't be using R4.0 until this bug is fixed.

    I feel like a broken record, but you've tested this without plugins, correct? Chances are your problems are plugin caused.

    Actually this is a problem already identified with multiplay's infrastructure and our changes to rcon. I'm pretty sure the build multiplay provides you includes the fix for this already otherwise you'll need to use a dev (R4.1-SNAPSHOT) build.

    Ever since I updated to this version, I have been having problems with redstone torches staying off. I haven't downloaded any new plugins or mods at that time, but this still kept glitching! If i put a torch down, then turn it off with redstone, then remove the redstone it still stays off!! Is anyone else having this problem?

    Thank you for the quick responses. Unfortunately Multiplay have not fixed this error yet (at least it wasn't fixed last night), I got in contact with their live support & they also confirm that it is to do with their infrastructure. I don't want to go back to any 4.* builds of bukkit until I know it's not going to keep rolling back the server after every restart. Receiving a ton of aggro from my players as a result of the roll-backs.

    Hello Baamoink - I'm Jeff, from Multiplay Support.

    We've actually updated the "recommended" release on Clanforge from 1.2.5-R4.0 (b2222) to 1.2.5-R4.1 (b2224), which includes the fixes to Rcon that were causing the erroneous behavior. Simply restarting your server (before clicking restart, please use the Clanforge console to issue the command 'save-all') should update your server to the new build and fix the Rcon implementation. If, for whatever reason, your server does not update (following the restart), delete the minecraft_server.jar via FTP and use Clanforge's FTP reset feature to regenerate it.

    We're very sorry for the inconvenience. We identified this problem fairly quickly and managed to get the changes pulled into Bukkit as fast as we could, but the damage was done on multiple servers before the change was implemented in Clanforge.

    If the above steps don't work, you can contact us on Live Support (or via ticket) and one of our technicians will help you get it sorted out.

    Why does the md5sum of the 1.2.5-R4.0 release not match? I downloaded it several times already and I'm getting the same hash every time. It just doesn't match the one on the download page (http://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/view/01149_1.2.5-R4.0/).

    Hi, i have problems with rusification of my server, russian works fine in chat but on signs it's transforming in "!?" symbols, someone have the same problem? Thnx

    Hey dear Bukkit-Team,

    There's a exploit or dupe-Bug with the Beds. If you die, and you respawn at your Bed, you've got the same things in your Inv. which you've got before you've died. But you drop the Items at your Deathpoint too.

    Please fix this ;)

    in R4.0 redstone cirkuits are bugged :) i have automatical train station and with the R4.0 update it wont work :) FIX?
