Problem/Bug Clear command with Essentials

Hello, I created a server using essentials, my problem is when I use /clear command, for example; I want to use this command to remove an especific item with nbt tags and name so I’ve always known to do this by doing /clear @p [item] 0 1 {display:{Name:[Itemcustomname]}} and it will delete it, now with essentials I try to do it and it says “Removed 0 of [item] from [playername] and I want to know how you do it with essentials I tried /ci and it didn’t work either, anyone knows how??
