    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

Yeah, they are finer controls, and they would probably be very useful.
Bit more control then I really want though. =P Oh well. It's still a great plugin.

    This is the error:
    Code:
[WARNING] [HeroChat] Error encountered while loading data. Check your config.yml and users.yml. Disabling HeroChat.
However, as far as I can see, it's all configured fine, unless it's an error in the YML, and I don't know about the users file, since I've seen somewhere we're not meant to edit it 'by hand'.

And here is the config too, if you can spot any errors:
    Code:

The two I am trying to add are the 'Sunstrokes' and 'OrsaNovusAevum'. These are both groups in the permissions file too, not sure if that has an affect.
What I do is save it, then do /ch reload in game, and from then on the error I said above occurs, we all have white names, white text etc.

Sorry, was a fault in the YML.

    Hello

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but,
is it possible to make a /help section to add commands either manually or automatically. Since I have no /help now, and finding help topics for each of the plugins is hard.

  5. Hello all,
I'm having trouble with multiworld support.
First off, i generated a new world with this plugin. However, when i travel to that world, permissions doesn't activate for that world (i have the yml file in teh directory to load it... but it just wont work).
On top of that, i get a console error in regards to HC::
    Code:
[SEVERE] Could not pass event PLAYER_CHAT to HeroChat
mapping values are not allowed here
      in "<reader>", line 72, column 13:
                 info:
                     ^
If i'm on the main world, this isn't an issue...

thanks for any help you can provide :)

I am currently using permissions and herochat, and I seem to have a problem with the prefixes. On permissions, my prefix is set to 'Administrator' but instead the prefix comes up as [g] when I talk. Also, my text is green, which makes me thing [g] is green, but I honestly have no idea why it's there.

I'm not really sure what you're asking. HeroChat's help menu is accessed via /ch help. Details on a command are provided by typing /ch <command> ?.

That error occurs during the parsing of your config. Something near that info: line isn't syntactically correct YAML.

The [g] you're seeing is the nickname of the default global channel - it's unrelated to Permissions prefixes. Post your Permissions config here.

Would be great if you can make the prefix for chat [Global] as it only takes 1 letter for prefixes :(

Channel nicknames are not restricted to one letter.

Does this plugin have distance-related chatting channels? For example- if I were 50 blocks from my friend he could not hear me talk, however if I were to be 20 blocks away from him he can.

    Thanks!

It might have to do with Essentials. There's something in the config that sets it to '&c' (ROSE). Change that to 'none'

    @2insane
    It does!

    Is this compatible with iChat?

How would i seperate the this chat:

[Global] Membertom : hi how are you?

How do i seperate Member from tom, and also put Member in brackets like this [Member] , with Member being green, and tom being default white.

    Here is my config:

    Code:

I seem to be having problems with this plugin at the moment. The chat still works, and is being displayed, however, none of the /ch commands work. Nothing shows up when I use any of them, and the problem persisted even after I switched to the default config and reinstalled the plugin. My bukkit build is cb740, here are my configs

    Herchat config:

  15. I would edit your permissions file, and in the prefix, place a - after member (so do [member]-tom) , and just do the basic color codes for whatever you want within the prefix definition.. .in permissions

I use group manager permissions and i can't make it work with HeroChat. I'm trying to make a chat channel that everyone can see but only admins be able to speak. If i set the permissions to join the channel to the admin group, it ignores it and doesn't let me join.
    Anything that you can do?

Yes. Read through the local channel section in the wiki.

Why would you want to use both?

You probably have a conflicting plugin (ie. FalsebookChat).

Post your GroupManager and HeroChat configs with your attempt at getting them to work. Note that groups are case-sensitive.

I dont know where groupchat could have come from D:

I have essentials, falsebook (core only), herochat, permissions, iconomy, factions, iconomychestshop, mothernature, logblock, worldedit and worldguard, and some other things like mysql, sqlite AUGHHH

I'm really confused. On my server I am currently under the Local Channel, which is what I want to be in. When my friend joined he start with the prefix [g], which is the default global channel, and had a green name. However, I want the Local Channel to be the default channel, as the [g] channel lets people talk regardless of distances between them. Basically I'm only using this plugin for the Local Channel distance function, and want anyone who joins to be automatically put in the Local Channel and unable to leave it.

Am I supposed to add something to Permissions? Thanks for the help.

I have tried over and over again and I still can't create channels with herochat. I've configured the permissions .yml several times in several different ways and it still won't allow me to create channels.
    Code:
        Admins:
            default: false
            info:
                prefix: ''
                suffix: ''
                build: true
            inheritance:
                - Moderator
            permissions:
                - herochat.*
                - herochat.create
                - epiczones.*
This is what my permissions look like. Do i need to put these permissions into the individual user? I have no idea whats going on. It worked a long time ago.

Is there a way to disable the /[channel nickname] [message] command? I find that it conflicts with a handful of other plugins and I don't want to make long channel nicknames to circumvent the issue.

Currently unsupported - will be fixed in the future.

Disable them all and re-enable one by one to see where the problem lies.

Change the default channel to Local and remove the other channels from the config.

That should work fine. What does your user section look like? Does HeroChat say that it found permissions in the console when you start the server? What error message do you get when trying the command?

Set shortcut-allowed under each channel to false.

    Hi

Tried to follow the request a feature link but dead link I think after I registered.

Don't know if this has been requested before (or whether ir actuallt is a feature already) but i was wondering if there was anyway of forcing all chat no matter what channel its on out via the local channel as well. This is so that in a PvP environment if someone is talking on a private channel to his clan/guild whatever, a non-friendly player listening on the local (or some othetr local definition channel) can hear within a local radius and go and investigate if they want. Jusr to add a little bit of danger to talking in a PvP enabled area.

    Cheers

Hi, great pluging i took it for the "local" chat its a very good idea.
But :)D) i've an issue, cause i use faction ... and faction use a "tag" system in the chat, with the guild name + color, hero chat remove it, i tryed to understand... but not enough good in java.
I use pvp reward too, and herochat + pvp reward work, you see [CHANNEL] [OUTLAW] Playername: Balabl
any way to get faction work like pvp reward ? source are not given :'(.
Thanks, the for moment i use priva /ch for factions.

Basically when i do the command /ch create blah blah blah, I basically fill everything in for a new channel, it just tells you don't have permission to create channels.
    Code:
    r1c3ball:
            group: Admins
            info:
                prefix: ''
                suffix: ''
            permissions:
                - herochat.admin
                - herochat.create
                - epiczones.admin
This my own user section. I don't understand why but i expected since i named myself in the Admins group i would gain the permissions i've already stated but that doesn't seem the case. Anyways I think it looks right. And yes herochat says its found permissions.

Hi, just before the 1.5 update I stopped seeing global messages in MCTelnet. I don't know if it is a HeroChat or MCTelnet issue. Anyone have any ideas? I used to be able to see normal chat but now I can only see private /tell messages in MCTelnet.

I asked around in the MCTelnet thread but it's a bit slow in response.
