changing block names?

OK so I'm starting a server and it will have a candy land texture pack it completely changes all of the blocks so the original blocks names just wont look right. if i change my language into pirate it shows the language from the resource pack. i know of a server that has drugs so they changed wheat to weed and other things like that. so I've seen it done i just want to know how to do it myself i followed a tutorial but it didn't work. i think it was because it was old and out dated. but i will leave a link for the resource pack and for the tutorial any help is appreciated thanks in advance. the server is mafiacraft btw
