  1. Hello Bukkit!
    Yesterday I found out about BlackSpigot, though not how I would like to.
    I was threatened a little bit ago from someone who was going to release my plugin on and showed me this.

    (Will put pictures here when I can)

    I'm now in the process of getting a Creative Commons license, but for the meantime how can I prevent this from happening? A thought came across to me about maybe having an authentication system on plugins for servers where I don't trust the staff.

    * The Circumstances
    I was developing a game mode for a network for free, I told them I reserve all rights because I didn't really trust them. Then, the network failed and the owner downloaded the file and is now waving it around my head either trying to scare me or is actually going to upload it. I do not plan on selling this plugin or release it publicly. I appreciate any help,

    • Edit: Just realized this might not be the right place to post this, sorry!
    Thank you -

    @Adrian Pasternak One of the reasons why I don't stick to a certain server.
    Every block that you can come up with can be removed.
  3. Well they would have to know how to decompile it, which most people who do this kind of stuff don't know how to do that.

    I guess the best solution would be just to choose well, and also remove the jar before they get to it.
    It's unfortunate that I have to take take these precautions.

    @Adrian Pasternak But a lot of people know some devs that do know how to decompile it.
  5. Yep, though its just one more thing to derail them if they do try. I suppose the best thing would be to get a copy right license on it and have the DMCA take down any servers with it. If anyone has any other suggestions or are experienced with these kind of things, I'm all ears.
