What I want:
A plugin that allows whitelisted IP's to use offline mode.
Like, so i can play with my friends using mods like MinecraftSP (or just play offline) when minecraft login servers are down.
Everyone else needs to use a premium account.

Ideas for commands:
/AO allow <IP> Would add an IP to whitelist
/AO remove <IP> Would remove an existing IP from the whitelist

Ideas for permissions:
- allowoffline.admin Only one i see would be useful, woudl allow all commands

When I'd like it by:
Before new years, hopefully.

Also, i did see the discussion about "hacks" in the rules sticky, but bukkit already has offline mode, so why not this?

Bukkit does not support offline mode servers (the main reason they made it possible though was because Mojang does it with their server.exe's aswell). Thread will get locked within minutes.
Also.. I myself have tried this once.. and I think it's impossible.

If bukkit is a modification of minecraft-server.jar, why didnt they remove it?

I was doing something important on my server, had to relog, and now i cant connect to minecraft.net

No ones gonna make this, first of all. It is possible, but no.
Bukkit does not support offline mode, there not gonna remove it cause why should they.
If your gonna have your server in offline mode, your on your own.

You will probably get the same response from a mod.

 

Reasons for locking should be fairly obvious.
