This plugin gives bare basic jail functionality. It allows you to set two points: the Jail point and the Unjail point. Then, when you jail a player, he/she will be teleported to the jail point and demoted to the Permissions group specified in config.yml. Unjail will re-promote the player and teleport back out of the jail, to the unjail point.

Features:

• Super customizable
• Use /setjail and /setunjail to easily set the two teleport locations
• Set the group that jailed players will be demoted to in the config file
• Players' initial groups are saved, so a normal jailed player will revert to a normal rank when unjailed, and a player with the VIP class will revert to the VIP class
• Works with PEX, PermissionsBukkit, and Vault
• Players in jail will respawn in jail
• You can "tempjail" players who will be automatically unjailed after a set time
• You can jail/unjail players even when they are offline

• simplejail.jail — Allows the use of /jail

Hey Jake, everything works great and all, but for some reason the plugin doesn't demote people when they're jailed. Is it a structure problem with Permissions? Can you tell me which file it's getting the title from: GlobalGroups or the groups of my World?

I've installed this plugin and it mostly works very well. However, there is a slight problem.

I've tried to allow my group 'Moderators' access to use this plugin:

They can jail people but not unjail, what is the problem with that? Is there a way that when i jail the user then they will be put into a group called jailed where they cannot use commands and they cannot build, thanks.

Player arent being moved to the Jailed group I made.... Also you should add the feature to remove their inv and when unjail it's restored.

i am having a major problem whenever i try to execute a command for simplejail, everytime it says
"error an internal error has occured while executing this command"

 

Would it be possible to default the permissions to Ops so that permissions isn't required?

 

It works good for me.
I don't understand permissions on it. These are my guesses:
1. Do I make a group called jailed or change jailgroup.
2. leave it alone and never touch it.

very nice, a jail with no freakin mysql requirment. i personaly just want to avoid sql but i couldnt find a jail plugin without ty very much.

 

does this plugin take away their permission to use /home or /spawn

 

Like everyone else, the Jail system is not changing the user's rank. (The rest of the plugin works)
Craftbukkit b1000 & Permissions 3 (latest) with 'Jailed' rank.

Even though it is not changing the player's rank it is still reloading the permissions file:

Edit: It is adding a new entry for the user instead of updating the old one.
So there are two entries in the permissions file and thus nothing is changed.

Edit #2: The plugin does indeed work. However, the problem we have is because the plugin forces the user name to be lower case. If the username already in the permissions file is NOT lowercase a new entry is created instead of updating the correct one.

The solution is for the plugin dev to remove 'toLowerCase();' from his username variable.

 

Hey, all! Sorry for the lack of replies! For one thing, I'm on vacation, so sorry about the inactivity. I'll be back on the 7th, though, and I plan to add all sorts of goodies to my plugins. Also, for some reason, I wasn't alerted a bunch of people had replied even though I'm watching this thread... odd.
Anyway, thanks to @Moparx for finding that bug, I'll fix it ASAP.

 

No problem.

To be honest, the absolute best solution would be to somehow grab the name from the server itself and match it against the input so that the capitalization is perfect. This is because if an admin or mod types in the username with lowercase and that user's name is not lowercase as well the same issue will show itself once again.

The only other 'issue' I've seen is that when they are unjailed all groups that are connected via inheritance (at least I am assuming it is operating that way as that's how mine is set up) seem to get added to the user's group entry.

For example: the user has only one group (group 4)

I'm not sure if this is an issue with how you coded the plugin to use Permission's API or if it is an issue with Permissions itself and how it handles things.

Regardless, it does not seem to hurt anything at all so it's no biggie I guess.

 

Finally, an update! The capitalization bug is now fixed, and SimpleJail also now supports Bukkit superperms. Existing users will have to change usebukkitpermissions to true in the config file, but new users will have it set to true by default.

I have no idea why that's happening. It shouldn't, and I can't seem to reproduce the problem. Are you sure this plugin is causing all that?

Notice to all people who want this to default to op:
Simply, it wouldn't work. The way this plugin stops people from doing things is by sticking them in another Permissions group. So, if it didn't use Permissions, people could still build/destroy/use commands in jail. That's why Permissions is (and always will be) required.

You can use Bukkit's permissions with PermissionsBukkit. Alternatively, you can use Permissions 3.x instead.

Dont work.. i'm add .jar file to plugins, start server and dont work jail commands...

 

Did you give yourself Permission to use the jail commands?
