EXPECT IDFinderPlus to be coming out soon!!!! We have merged with ItemID to create the ULTIMATE ID finding plugin (regular updates will still be made to IDFinder, along with new features)! IDFinder is a very simple and easy to use plugin. Once installed, grab yourself a bone (configurable) and right click on any block that you want the data value of. It should send you a message saying the name of the block and the data value. We recently merged with another plugin called ItemID that does this and more Keep in mind IDFinder is "more lightweight" than ItemID, so I will be making regular updates to both of them. I will add your suggestion in v2.1, thanks for the feedback!
