ForceField - Create a force field to protect your land and items:

    Version: v1.6

This plugin will allow you to create a redstone powered force field to protect your land and items. There is no configuration file yet so you will have to settle with the default settings. When this plugin is fully finished you will have the ability to change almost everything in the configuration file. Please post any (constructive) suggestions and ideas here.

    Demo:

    Video made by Marty.

    Tutorial:
    1. Type /ff or /ForceField to toggle "Building Mode". (Requires: Place permission or OP)
    2. Place down some ForceField blocks. (default: Clay Block)
    3. Power the blocks with redstone and you're good to go :p.
    Permissions:
    • ForceField.place -> Allows you to place (and remove) your own ForceField blocks.
    • ForceField.place.override -> Allows you to place any blocks in a ForceField zone.
    • ForceField.remove.override -> Allows you to remove any blocks in a ForceField zone.
    • ForceField.damage.override -> Allows you to bypass player damage from ForceFields.
    • ForceField.pass.override -> Allows you to pass through any powered ForceField.
    • ForceField.pass - > Allows you to pass through your own powered ForceField.
    Features:
    • Create a ForceField that keeps out players, kills monsters/players, and prevents grief.
    • Choose your own ForceField block.
    • Permissions support.
    Change Log:

    Version 1.6:

Yes, that's why you want to hide it underground or have an admin protect the zone its in.

I just updated the jar, and what do you mean? Are you asking if it will work for the latest version of bukkit? If so yes it will.

Tell me, how the hell someone on legitimate server suppose to get clay block? When /give is banned and you can't buy it >,< Obviously this hasn't been though off D:
I would advise to change to something that player can easily obtain, like a wool for example, or fence, or something, that they can go and get in enormous amounts or just craft it.

Is this just for cuboid/square areas?
Would a player be able to build a tower up and get "over" the forcefield?

Clay balls in a 2x2 sqare, at least, it was the last time I checked http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Clay_(Block)#Crafting

Well server owners can change the ForceField block type :).

No, you don't have to make a cuboid, and the player could only get over it if they went under the whole map, but they would have to be a admin or have some hack that allows them to mine bedrock.

how far does the field reach? is it down to the bedrock or is is a cylinder with a specific height, not just as far up and down as possible, and if it is, can you have a setting to change that? i realize this is a work in progress, and these are just ideas. It's looking great, and works fine for me, especially with my obsidian floor.

That would be neat but it would be very laggy, don't you think?

All the way up to the block build height and all the way down to bedrock.

Hey, great plugin! I only have one problem. I created a large forcefield underground, hoping it would create a barrier straight up. But I did a bit of testing, and i'm not sure if it's just my server or the actual plugin, but when theres a block above the redstone, you can walk over the block. The mincraft block blocks the forcefield. Please tell me why this happens and if it's supposed to :p
    Thanks

This should only happen when the block you placed over the ForceField was another ForceField block.

you think the idea of creating two different fields, which would kill mobs that are not killed, and would not miss them?

I love this plugin i have been using it alot. One suggestion for it i have is if you could change the hight and depth of the force field. Keep up the great work :)

    Paulpkyou

You can change the height of it by placing ForceField blocks over the ForceField.

I'd love the option of turning off the notifications when placing and removing forcefield blocks.

I'm using bookcases as forcefield blocks. And the notification gets annoying after a while, especially when you are not going to use them as generators.

I love the plugin otherwise though!

This mod has potential. Nice idea!
But there are few things that need to be improved:

    1) Protect the redstone. Or possibly the whole area inside ForceField? (So you won't be able to just bypass ForceField by smashing it lol)
    2) I was able to bypass ForceField by placing new ForceField-block above first one
    3) Also minecart can be used to enter.. (Maybe boat too? Haven't tested)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining :D Just pointing out bugs/glitches

EDIT: Also those messages which appear when I place ForceField-blocks are getting annoying

The ForceField only checks for living entities, a minecart or a boat doesn't count as living, that's why it was able to pass though, also the ability to place a ForceField block over another is there on purpose to limit how high it goes, you could always setup permissions to prevent other players from placing the ForceField block over it, and i will think about adding protection to everything within the ForceField. :p
