I think that a standalone offline mail plugin is much needed - post office was good but it has died out and did not support sqlite. Something like DSMail from HMod would be cool as well. http://forum.hey0.net/showthread.php?tid=245&highlight=mail Anyone else think this is needed?
@tha d0ctor Yes it does but you have to have a whole lot of other things that are not related to the mail plugin as well. "A standalone mail plugin"
How is that standalone - I have to disable features I don't need... I might make this myself - been learning java for a month or to now.
I was betaing going through and gutting out essentials.mail tday, not sure how its dev would like that though..
Ok, i started working on this. Mails will be saved with SQLLite, (or flatfiles if someone requests that) You can set how long each mail will be saved. I wont add multi-server support, because i dont think that will be used.
Hmm, can be added You have to bit a little more patient, as with the 1.5 update, i need to update some other things first
one more vote for MySQL! Here are my reasons: I have it installed already and have external access to it. I'd like to be able leverage this for all my databases. I'm guessing that a large portion of the "clients" for an in-game email plugin are going to be the larger servers, which probably have LogBlock or BigBrother installed, which means they are already using MySQL too. (see #1 above)
Ok, i wanted to give you an update. Started working on this. Still a lot to do, but i am getting there. I am going to skip flatfiles for now, as i get the impression nobody got interest in it. New update: I think i'm for 70% done, you can expect something tomorrow. Just need to add the commands, and test it all out.
MYSQL support would also allow you to incorporate the mail plugin on a website if you know php.. which I dont having just thought of this now I can't wait for this plugin!
how well versed are you in PHP, one of my server members is a web developer so I might plug him for a few ideas
Has this idea been completed yet? I've been waiting for a response from the other developer, haven't seen word of anything. I can duplicate a MemoServ for Minecraft. (For those of you who don't know what memoserv is, it's basically the idea behind this request, but for IRC.)
