I know, I'm the one who posted that on WHT...

The only thing is that latency is noticeable... And it would be around $67, or $101 with a 120GB SSD, with $165 of setup either way.

Also, they have a vKVM and rescue mode in their CP from what I've heard.

Yeah, that is what I am stuck on.

The Hetzner server is literally double the RAM of my server, but it is not server grade, have KVM and the location.
Although at the same time, it is half the cost............soo I am stuck, but I am so tempted to purchase one.

Dual 3 TB hard drives in RAID1 is more than enough for me. Especially when you got freaking 32 gigs of RAM. Just RAMdisk everything

    Ugh...stuck.

Well, from what Orcworm's said, he greatly prefers a SSD alone to RAMdisk + drive, due to lag when syncing the data from RAM to the drive (and that SSD hits 400+MB/s).

Honestly, there's nothing that can compete with the EX4S. It has KVM (rescue mode and vKVM), storage (3TB), RAM (32GB), CPU (8 threads at 3.4GHz), network (10TB@100mbps, with 1gbps possible), backup (100GB of backup space) and a low price.

The two disadvantages are price (setup) and ping to the US.

Personally, I think I can scale my L5420s and 8 gigs of ram up to 75, maybe 100 slots if I put everything in RAM and I'm careful.

    Past then, well, I'll hopefully have the budget for a EX4S. I don't mind 160ms vs 30ms.

In case you aren't impressed enough with Hetzner's offer, I just dug around and noticed that they offer 2hrs/day of free KVM... I'm so tempted... If they didn't have a setup fee, Hetzner would destroy OVH completely.

    Really, never noticed that.

I am seriously considering it and have been debating them over the past few days.

The only reason not to go with them is if you can't afford it :P

I'd be with them in an instant if there was no setup fee.

Yeah, no I could afford it. Although I found out that OVH now offers 1 month payments.....and they used to make you do 3 month payment plans. So it's between Hetzner or OVH.

Overall though I am looking for something for the long term.........I am sick of jumping hosts and resetting stuff up. So this next host I choose I will be with for a longgg time.

Whoops, I failed hard there. For some reason I thought that was OVH's datacenter and I though ti looked too good to be true!

BTW I've been eyeballing some servers with the dual L5420s and I am not sure though. There seems to be some inconsistencies in the Passmark benchmarks, a single one only gets 3,561 yet dual get over double?...makes no sense.

    Benchmarks aren't perfect, they're averages.

So far, the CPUs are great, but I'd always like more RAM, a semi-dedicated KVM, SSDs, gigabit, etc etc...

If I could find someone under $65/month with better specs than my current ones, then I'd move in a heartbeat, but I'm afraid my only option in that price range is OVH, who I'm staying away from (until they open up their Canada DC and/or reveal the 2012 servers).
