HawkEye? Or are you meaning that you need one because they're all broken right now? I suppose just downgrade or keep it at 1.1 and try and stop your players from updating :/

I did take a look in the source code, I want to learn java but damn.. I find it hard.

Telling people on the Bukkit forums that they shouldn't rely on plugins seems kind of silly to me, lol. EVERYONE EAT CANDY (but don't eat candy, it's bad for you!)

I happen to be in that same boat, hence some of my more bitter posts before. I run a prison server that has a very specific rules structure to it that will likely have to change dramatically if some of these plugin developers don't update. I'm not unused to the process of updating plugins or finding new ones to replace old ones, but I never expected that the whole universe of plugins would one day be so dramatically overturned as it seems to have been today.

As I said before, these Bukkit/Mojang developers are great at making games, but absolutely HORRIBLE at communicating with people. They really have to consider hiring a PR person or a "professional blogger" or someone who's job is just to communicate better with the public. Cause they clearly suck at it, themselves.

I use Hawkeye, and I have downgraded ofc. Btw, Hawkeye are actually updated for R5 (unofficial release)
    But I can't be on 1.1 forever..

IMO server admins should not be learning how to program to run their servers. There is however the unfortunate case that polygons becomes abandoned.

It's not something that can be learned in a few minutes just to fix a seemingly small problem. You should consider taking classes or at least buying some books about programming if you're really serious about it. Otherwise, you're just wasting your time and likely making things worse for yourself.

No, I have/need(for 1.2) auto block protection, and im not going to use WG for that, too much work :p

I know, but i don't think most of the people here have read a book, or taken classes for coding. Except the pro coders :p

Here are plugins i manually modified/compiled from sources and are running for a while, all appears to work. Worldguard needs to be thoroughly tested, though.

As usual, use at your own risk.

Well, that's why most people here would advise you not to try to update your own plugins unless you REALLY know what you're doing. I, for one, don't -- I'm a web developer, but not a Java developer, nor do I understand the Bukkit API. Therefore, even I, having a relatively strong programming background, wouldn't try updating my own plugins.

Sorry, I meant 1 plugin :p. I realize the contradiction in that statement.

This update must have been more detailed and substantial than I understand to cause everything to break like that. I remember the last update, and my plugins from the version before it still worked for the most part.

You can download dev build of WorldEdit and Worldguard here: http://build.sk89q.com/

Well, yeah, I mean who knows how this update will turn out, but these initial reports on plugins seem to be bad news. Seems like a lot of the plugins are breaking. We may be griping about something that won't be as big of a deal in the end, but in my opinion it doesn't look good for we server admins out of the gate.

Also, don't use worldedit, it appears to be broken horribly at the moment :(

Nope, I guess I have to grab a book about coding, and look through tutorials..

I sympathize with you -- it's looking like I might have to finally learn how to do plugin development, too -- not exactly looking forward to it. It's not easy learning a new API, especially one as dense as Bukkit.

Build #2000 seems stable for the moment. That doesn't change the fact that the plugins are broken, but its a start.

You never did mention what this "auto block protection" plugin was. Which plugin is it?

Also, I've noticed that, at least in this build(2000), that after converting your map/world, it seems to change your original spawn point to a different location, and it almost seems like it might not even be connected to any part of your map/world that you've already discovered(as in, it seems to be generating new chunks as I move around. nothing is familiar).

Also, the lighting is HORRID. The shadows are doing the whole suck the light out of everything bug.

From what I remember reading, lighting calculation is now supposed to be client side, but I could be wrong.

    Seems it's a work-in-progress. I don't see a point in updating that.

The developer have been inactiv and don't respond to tickets.
I just want it to be updated for 1.2, WG, LWC, Essentials eg. I don't worry about, beacause they are rather quickly to update their plugins.

hurr durr. I feel dumb for still using Jenkins.

Those 3 already work, haha. WG and Essentials need to be dev builds but they seem to work fine.

I know a bit about C/C++ and Java is similar, but I tell you it seems so difficult for me. I can't seen to get my mind to understand it. Then I really want to get into it, but don't know enough. A suggestion to take classes..well unless you plan on doing this for a real job/career then its worth it. If not don't even bother.

So a server admin for a small server I just said you wait or don't play. Then again I don't make servers to make money.
