Ive been looking for a hardcore mode plugin for quite a while now for my local server. I love playing hardcore on my own but it would be much more fun with others. Ive seen many plugins out there that try and simulate "Hardcore" by banning players from the server for X amount of time but in reality it isn't really hardcore because when they are able to re enter the server, they have all their items back and their homes are still in the same place they left it. Nothing is really lost except for the items they carried when they died. I am not a programmer myself and have no idea how to write a plugin and that's why I'm posting here. My Idea comes from a bunch of plugins Ive used in the past. Combining these plugins into one would create the ultimate Hardcore Mode on an SMP server. Here are some examples of what the plugin may contain. Log all blocks a player places or removes for example; Player, builds a home. All blocks are logged. (With this feature, when a player dies, all items and blocks placed by a player are deleted upon death. If we could also restore any terrain alteration the player may have caused would be great!) Instead of banning the player, we can spawn him in a random location X amount of distance from his last spawn point therefor removing the need to BAN a player or even creating a brand new world (like some other plugins claim to do) because he/she has died. If he/she may reunite with his buddy's again.. then good luck to him! These two simple features would create (in my opinion) a real hardcore SMP server where the players have everything to loose if they die but still be able to keep playing the game with his friends instead of having to wait hours or days without being able to log back in the server.
