Tyler_Tsero yes it is whitelisted and I am on it. It is in online mode. I can connect to it but no one else. Also I used to use the actual ip but recently I had a problem and someone said to put in localhost as the ip. That worked but no one else can connect.
Ok, Make sure users IGN are on the whitelist (I'm guessing they already are ) Try disabling your firewall. See if this works... Is your IP static? Most ISP do not have static IP's.. Have you tried a DynamicDNS server? Such as No-ip? And what errors are the other players getting when they try to connect?
Tyler_Tsero I will try disabling ny firewall. Alo the error when other people try to connect is connection timed out
More then likely your firewall. Make sure that the IP in you're server.properties files is left blank
Tyler_Tsero it doesn't seem to be my firewall. It's just connection timed out. The firewall settings are at the default on a Verizon router. Would deleting the port forward condition for minecraft and redoing it fix it?
List your server.properties here please so I can take a look. Most likely you haven't added your friends to your whitelist or specified an IP. Personally I do it thourgh No-IP. Pretty hassle free.

Is your portforwarding forwarded to your computer? Because with "connection timed out", it is likely your firewall or your portforwarding...
Yudaz what do you mean forwarded to my computer? Also this is not my first time setting up a server so I'm pretty sure it's not the port forwarding. Also I don't think it's the firewall as it hasn't been changed recently. It's been working fine for a while but recently, I had a problem and I got it fixed but I couldn't connect. Someone recommended typing in localhost as the ip. That worked.......for me.my friends still couldn't connect
