Well, alot of ppl already know my HEAVY experience with MC/Bukkit.. some don't.

    Take a look at this:

    Yeap, 927 players.

Servers: 1, 2 and PREMIUM are on the same box (i7 2600k@5Ghz).

    :)

Damn. Have you made any optimizations to the server software? Your processor beats mine by far, but almost 1,000 players is an enormous load for even the best processors.

When you think about it, it makes more sense.

5GHz per (HT) thread is quite a lot of CPU power, and running 4 servers isn't a problem. Look at it this way— 4 main server threads, each at 5GHz and mostly used, and 4 threads for plugin tasks and other uses (Apache, etc).

Still, it's quite impressive, even more so on only 32GB of RAM. I've read a lot of your posts, you've done quite a bit of heavy optimization on it, much more so than any other Minecraft server/community I know of.

Anyone have any ideas on how this is done? We have the hardware to do this, but can never really get passed 120 people without it becoming unbearably laggy.

Play with Java flags, use fast plugins, potentially Nolagg/Ptweaks and you're good to go. :)

    How?! :D
    my server 2x 8 Core 2.0GHz , 32GB RAM and 5TPS with 40players..... crying :(

Well, for one, I don't know what launch flags you're using. Also, 2GHz is slow, you may have noticed that spunkiie has a i7-2600K clocked at 5GHz... That's 2.5x the speed of your CPU :p.

And some plugins have an extremely heavy memory and/or CPU footprint.

    Impressive to say the least.

What operating system are you runnign them off of?

What type of pluggins do you run and are you using ram disks?

    Any type of automated backups?

    Yes, well?
what you want to tell us with this stats?

Not only is he clocked at double the speed of your processor, but it is Intel. Therefore his CPU is probably 3-4x more powerful per core than your AMD one.

For Minecraft it is about per core performance and that is where Intel owns AMD.

  14. All these stats are quite an achievement. But maybe you could explain what you did to get these kind of stats? I think many people will say there thanks!

My question is how the hell do you get so many players >.>
Maximum I hit was like 23.

My question is where did you find 927 players?!

I have a server but get no more than 8 individuals on a day.

8 people on a day would not be a big server.

Yes, but it can handle 30 people at once - so where does he find the players to join such a huge servers? Advertising? If so, it must cost though the roof.

    My guess it is because:
    - Foreign server
    - Offline mode server, so lots of pirates

  23. What do you mean by foreign server? Every server that's not in Sweden?

  24. Offline

    Nathan C

I meant it is not in English. Therefore a lot of non-English speakers would join that.

The reason his is so big is chiefly because it's for one country and one country only, it's running on insane hardware, and it uses the native language instead of English. Think about it, there are thousands of English servers, but not so many Brazilian servers like his, meaning that he has his niche.

If you really want large player amounts, then you need to do one or more of the following:

    A) Make the server whitelisted, and post a thread on MCforums. If you're lucky, it'll snowball and basically grow at a constantly-increasing rate, and you'll basically have unlimited players.

    B) Vote like crazy on one of the larger Minecraft server lists, if you're really desperate then use proxies to do so, but push your server to page one and you'll get a ton of players.

    C) Pay for a sponsored spot on a large server list.

    D) Partner up with a Youtube project/sponsor.

Since I'm deeply involved with the Hunger Games project, I'm going to piggyback on them when they post their videos, the project leader has agreed to running a quick ad for my server before each video (which I need to make sooner or later :p), and while it'll be quite a while at this rate before they run the games and post videos, I expect to gain a lot of players from that, after seeing the buzz around the entire project for the last 10 months.
