    Hey!

    Here is my config:
    - Intel 2600k
    - 8go ram
    - The server is running on a 500go hardrive.

The plugins I am using is:
    - Commandbin
    - Nolagg

    Server config:
    - No nether
    - 1gb
    - High priority

    Internet:
    - 10mb Download
    - 1mb Upload

So, I have just started my server and I am trying to bring couple of friend on there. I am not feeling any lag when playing which is normal but he is lagging like no other and it is unplayable, so I asked another friend and he has the same issue.

Both of my friend have good internet connections with good PCs. So I think the issue is on my side.
I was wondering, if you had any suggestion? I am not hoping to get 20 people at once, but just about 10 would be more than enough.

I am pretty sure that my config and my PC should be able to support it, I would like some insight!

    Thanks!
    Have a good day!

    EDIT: Forgot some informations:

    - Windows Seven 64bits
    - Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_27-b07)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.2-b06, mixed mode)
    - No wrapper
    - This server is running Craftbukkit version git-Bukkit-1.0.1-R1-b1597jnks (MC: 1.0.1)
    - Command used:

    Code:
    @ECHO OFF
    SET BINDIR=%~dp0
    CD /D "%BINDIR%"
    "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms1024M -Xmx1024M -jar craftbukkit-1.0.1-R1.jar
    PAUSE
Also, when people are joining me they only have 1 green bar as ping.

First, you are only allocating 1GB RAM. You can allocate more if you wish.
Second, if your server has a single 500GB Drive (no raid array involved) you will likely run into disk I/O constraints. Look into using a ramdisk to help.
Third, and most likely the biggest problem - you only have 1MB up. You can host, at best, 5 people on that without lag.

You have 1 GB allocated to your server and you have 8 GB on your system. How about you allocate about 2 GB or 4 GB? Plus, your Upload is only 1 Mbps. My guess would be the max of 8 Players, anything higher than that would lag the players who are connected to It.

If your not lagging, then It's because the server is on your network itself. Data doesn't have to travel farther because It's already IN your Network. When people start connecting, you need to make sure you have enough Bandwidth for all the players in your server. If there's no sufficient Bandwidth, your friends on the server will begin to lag.

Nolagg is the problem ;) Disable it and see it results.

    Thanks for all the answer!

But why does it lag like hell when only one person joins the game? I agree that I can only support a low amount of people, but nobody can play because it is lagging to much.

I will call my ISP tomorrow to see how much it cost to upgrade my upload.
I have tried without Nolagg at first, and it seemed that it was worst.

I will try putting my server on my SSD drive, but isn't it suppose to be a bad thing to put a software that writes alot on a SSD drive?

    THANKS again!

EDIT: Do you think it would be better with Hamachi?

Hamachi is VARY INSECURE, and vary laggy. i do not recomend it because your literaly just yelling HACK ME, IM GIVING YOU FULL ACCESS TO MY NETWORK!!!!!

I had some problems using a slow processor for my server, it was freezing with 1 or 2 plugins and simply myself and a friend. All the other responses here are good and can help (Especially to allocate more RAM) but before you call your ISP, if your CPU's speed is around 2.5 - 2.7GHz, consider getting a higher speed processor. Many cores don't matter, my server works far better with a 4-core 3.5GHz phenom than a 6-core 2.6 one.

From the looks of it, that is a Cable ISP.

With the majority of cable and even FIOS ISP's, hosting servers is against their rules and if you do so, they will either throttle your internet or terminate your contract. Check at your ISP's website and check the TOS, to see if they allow any type of server hosting, before calling them up.

Or just save yourself both the money AND trouble, by getting a real server.

Thanks for everyone! I fixed my problem and it was really a stupid thing. My router had to be updated, and it was slowing down my whole network. I did the update and now I am running at full speed without any problem, how dumb is that.

Anyway thanks again! I think I will try to rent a server or something, since my friend was hosting it in the meanwhile and it uploaded 4go in the past 24h, which is a lot.

1mbps is plenty for a few players, I fit 15 on a 0.5mbps upload at one point, although the lag was ridiculous.

If you want to rent a server and are looking for a VPS, I'm very happy with chicagovps.net (Xen PV 2GB plan). Although I'm ditching them for a cheap dedi I snagged from a WHT sale, but that VPS was nothing short of amazing.
