I recently found out that Essentials comes with a nether world (or at least, I think so). Which is neat, but to keep my players from being blown to cube-shaped bits as soon as they set a foot in the nether, I've built a little safehouse. The problem is, I see no way how to change the spawnpoint when my players use /world. Because people had already built active portals when multiworld support was released, I will not risk enabling the nether the 'normal' way just yet. Can I change the spawnpoint in the nether without removing the spawnpoint in the normal world at the same time? Being able to change properties, like being able to control whether or not mobs will spawn in the nether (not that I'm planning on doing that... no, really!) would be a bonus.

The only relevant plugins I have for this are the various Essentials subplugins.

Alternate worlds seem to ignore the properties file and mobs will spawn anyway. As far as setting a respawn. I was able to use plgsetspawn to set a spawn point in the my nether world. Worked like a charm. You can then remove the plugin if you so desire as it may conflict with some of your essentials commands.

I might also add, that I only allow portals for my teleporting, and it has caused no issues.

The one that will arise is if you set a spawn point yourself and construct a portal for dead players (as they wont be sent back to the normal world) to go back to the normal world, will not emerge at the normal world spawn point unless you calculate where the portal is supposed to go in order to send them to wherever your spawn point coordinates (in the normal world) are.

Wow really? Because I never tested that :D Are we talking the version just before 1.3? The 1.3 version had to be changed a little since bukkit is not in the same state regarding spawns right now.

I did it before the update to 1.3, but the update didn't break it. I like my spawn point and don't want to risk anything xD

Thanks for the quick response. I'll implement the plugin when I start my daily maintenance tomorrow.

Of course don't test it on the main world, but f you could back it up and then test, that would be great ;)

Interesting. My spawn from death sends me back to the normal world spawn now.

/spawn sets me above the spawn i set before. (it was in a cave)

After re-setting my spawn with the newer plugin, /spawn again dumps me at the proper X-Z coordinates with my Y value being significantly higher than where I set it.

Death still dumps me at the spawn of my normal world now.
