    Hello :D
Recently the 1.9 PR5 Bukkit release came out. It was fiddled with and now works with 1.0.0

I would never use a Craftbukkit jar that I didn't get directly from the Bukkit Jenkins site. Nobody is going to use this, and it was more than a little suspicious to post it.

Sorry, but I don't trust you.
Could you tell us where you get the jar from?
And what do you mean with 'fiddled'?

He got the jar from the minecraft forums*, some person messed with it to get it to work. It is "Legit" but.. rather buggy according to some players on my server, just wait for "Official" release.

    @SmartieCaik
    Wow it actually worked!
Took a look at your website, and it seems that SmartieCalk is just a minecraftplayer and not an hacker. Sorry for distrusting you.
Sadly, the links have been removed by the moderators... they could better mark it with "High Risk Link/Unofficial Build" instead of censoring (Yes, it actually is censoring) it like that :/

@Unset its against the ToS to place links to unofficial builds, thats why it gets removed

its to protect the server owner in case one of the links ends up being malicious

Lol so somebody beat bukkit to updating their own project?

Anyone have server with this bukkit and no-premium ?

my guess is that this is the 1.9p5 build that has been modified to run correctly

    Waffletastic

Yeah, I am guessing too, because I went on the server, and /version gives 1.9p5

I fully agree that they want to protect server owners, and that is a good thing.
But I think they should "Severly warn" instead of "Censor". They should never censor at all.
Funny thing is, they changed the logo to STOP CENSORSHIP a few days ago xD

i saw the banner, but as they can't go through and check every time someone posts an unofficial build (time constraints), the find it easier just to ban the use of the builds and remove the links

and comparing that censorship to a forum is asinine as they are not preventing you from finding it elsewhere and restricting the use

Yeah I agree with that, it much more easy to remove a link, than inserting/developing a warning of some kind. And also, some server-owners may be in panic-mode, so they click every link that says 'bukkit', '1.0' and 'jar' to find a working 1.0-bukkit server, ingoring any warnings.

what i did for my users is post a link to the 1.8 files and to a page that tells them how to downgrade the client so they aren't freaking out with "OMG WTF I CAN"T CONNECT!!!!!!"

I check this out and all this is a Bukkit 1.9 build that has been change a little to thinks its 1.0. So if your on one type /version and that will revile all.

All this will do, is remove the kick function when the client sends the wrong protocol version. This will be very unstable and cause problems for the server - as well as the Bukkit team, as people will be asking for support for it and complaining about how it is not working properly. Which is why the link has been removed.

Haha, i recognise that situation xD
When I was running 1.9pre5 for a test, I changed the MOTD to "Download 1.9pre5 on minecraftforum!". I tested, to see if the message was visible when using the 1.8.1 client, and it was visible: It showed the MOTD, and gave an 'outdated client'-error on connect, as expected.
So later on I see this:
    /xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx disconnected: outdated client
    /xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx disconnected: outdated client
    /xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx disconnected: outdated client
    /xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx disconnected: outdated client
    (A few hours later)
    /xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx disconnected: outdated client
    /xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx disconnected: outdated client

I think it is because most users don't know much about 'client' and 'server', I also conclude that because of many request of 'install equivalent exchange, planes, redpower!'
Ok I am going a bit offtopic now xD

i have a little question... when bukkit 1.0 is released and i update my server, must i download every plugin again or are they still working in my server? or is there something that ubdates the plugins with the server version?... sorry for my english im german, i hope ou nderstand what i mean ^^ =)

You just replace the bukkit jar with the new ones. The plugins SHOULD still work.

However you will want to check all their pages regularly for the first week or so since there will inevitably be bugs in some of them that cause issues. Most authors are usually impressively quick on fixing them, but it might take a few days for some of the bigger projects.

There are a few plugins that need to modify core craftbukkit code rather than just using the API (Spout is an example of this) that will take a little longer before they are updated (since they can't do much of their needed updating till after craftbukkit is updated). Older versions of these will be incompatible with the new version till they are updated.

No, you should have to re-download and update every plugin, some plugins will break when the update happens. You'll need to update those plugins, I think an update though is a good time to go through all your plugins and make sure they are up to date though, you might be missing some new features :)
