Most Realistic Nether Plugin?

I'm kind of new to bukkit, and I run a small server in which we all play by Minecraft's rules. I want to add the Nether to my server, but there are a bunch of unorganized multiworld plugins out there. Which one is the most reliable, and is best at simulating the single-player Nether experience? (i.e. Activate portal, stand in portal, move to nether, new portal auto-created, move at a 8:1 ratio)

NetherGate is probably the best. It functions just like singleplayer portals, but it's a 16:1 ratio. I believe you can edit that with a config file, though.

Did NathanWolf finally make it so NetherGate automatically makes a return gate?

I'm currently fond of Nether v1.0.
Makes a return gate, has 8-1 ratio, and even makes a small stone platform under the gate.

Nether v1.0 works great for me. It's the official 8:1 ratio, no frills, no config, drag and drop and portals work again.

I think a lot of plugin authors get caught up in all the frills that they forget that sometimes, plugins should just drag and drop and work. No commands, no messing with config, etc.

If you want absolute simulacrum then run the nether on a separate server instance and set up fire-lit obsidian gates between the two servers with ServerPort - This is the only way, unfortunately, that you don't get the horrible overworld skybox in the nether.

Does server port still require a client patch? Cause that's a real killer.

    The skybox sucks hard though.

Thats a good question. I think to port between servers you may need to. You don't need a client mod to run a netherworld with it though.

I know that Nether 1.0 (haven't tested 1.0.1 yet, but it shouldn't be any different) does not require a modded client. Also, it's the only plugin I've found that got the return trip to land me at the same portal in the overworld (maybe I just had the other plugins setup wrong, but this seems like it should be the default behavior for any nether plugin).

But do you get the skybox with it? I'm just about to start imPlementing multiworld and the nether again so I'm looking for good suggestions.
