    *Warning, rage ahead*
HOLY FUCK I JUST WROTE THE BIGGEST FUCKING WALL OF TEXT GIVING DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENTS ABOUT MY ISSUE/ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS FOR THE INFO YOU NEED TO HELP ME AND THEN 1 LITTLE MISSCLICK AND IT'S ALL GONE. Christ I'm mad.
I'm going to breeze through it this time. Ask me questions if I don't give enough info.
So I first installed the stand alone .jar and .bat server files and it wouldn't let me join straight away, I got several different weird errors and then I got in, same with my friend. Then I wanted to install some plug-ins and shit went down. Every time I tried joining I would get a different weird error message, and so I redownloaded the software/tried without plug-ins and the problem persisted. I don't get different errors anymore, Just the same one it seems. I don't have the server.logs from the deleted/uninstalled servers. I don't know if it's related but since trying to use Bukkit I also have been having issues signing into minecraft, maybe it's just temporary though..

    Here's the info you need.

    1. What OS are you using (Brand and version - Ex. Windows XP SP3)?
    Windows Vista Home Premium SP2

    2. What architecture is the OS you are running (x64 or x86)?
    x86

    3. What version and architecture is your java install?
    1.7.0

    4. Are you running any wrappers? McMyAdmin, mcadmin, Hamachi, etc?
No, I have Hamachi installed but I don't run it.

    5. What build of CraftBukkit are you running?
This server is running Craftbukkit version git-Bukkit-0.0.0-1131-g86b7fa8-b1337jnks

    6. What commands are you using to run your CraftBukkit server?
None because I can't get into my server.

    7. What plugins are you running?
    CraftBukkitUpToDate.jar
    Pail.jar
    Pailplus.jar

    8. What error are you getting (post your server.log file)?
(It wouldn't let me upload the file.
    9. What have you tried already?
    Google.
    Reinstalling Java
    Reinstalling Pail/re-downloading server software
    Double checking Ports.
And other stuff which I can't remember right now, I'll add it as I remember it.

    10. Have you tried any of the things below?
Yes I've tried the stand alone vanilla server software.
    Yes I've updated craftbukit
    Yes I've tried without plug-ins
Yes I've tried with only 1 plug-in, nothing changed.

Do you know if minecraft was down about 2 or 3 hours ago? Because that's when I first tried installing bukkit.

    That site is extremely unreliable.
Everytime minecraft.net is reported down by the masses, that site says everything is fine.
Take right now for example. Is minecraft auth working? Hell no! What does the site say? Oh everything's just dandy!

You can solve loads of Multiplayer problems by setting your server to OFFLINE mode. Users can still play, and it doesnt make a visible difference. You can play multiplayer andthat stuff.

    1) Find where you saved your minecraft server stuff
    2) open server.PROPERTIES.
    3) You should see something like this:

    Code:
    s#Minecraft server properties
    #Sun Oct 23 15:40:27 BST 2011
    level-name=world
    allow-nether=false
    view-distance=5
    spawn-monsters=true
    online-mode=false
    gamemode=0
    spawn-animals=true
    difficulty=1
    server-name=Servines Server
    server-ip=5.43.81.188
    max-players=10
    pvp=true
    level-seed=Free
    server-port=25565
    allow-flight=false
    white-list=true
    4) Find "online-mode"
    5) Set it to false.
