    New Towny Website!

Taking Shades' Towny a step farther.

A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.

    Optional
    • Questioner 0.6
    • Essentials 2.5+ - (Towny /town spawn's obey Essentials teleport cooldown)
    • All permissions plugins are supported and provide greater customization (recomend GroupManager).
    • Economy plugin of your choice.

    • iConomy 4/5 *
    • iConomy 6 *
    • EssentialsEco *

I'm not sure if there is a command already, but if there isn't would it be possible to add a command to towny to select certain plots to have pvp on so that Towns may build Gladiator arenas without having to turn pvp on in the entire town or unclaim land to make it wilderness and be able to fight in? For example /Plot toggle pvp

Another suggestion is a command that would allow everyone to build/destroy on a certain plot without having to add people to assistants or allowing residents to build/destroy everything. This would help with group projects in your town, Public Mines, and Spleefing arenas.
    (/Plot toggle build),(/Plot toggle Destory)
    Thanks.

You already do what you describe as "/plot toggle build." All you need to do is claim that plot and change your plot permissions to allow outsiders to build/destroy. Or you could have another town member who does not have their own plots to protect claim it and have them set the plot perms. OR you could set the town's land permissions to allow outsiders to build, then claim all unclaimed town plots in your name, with your usual plot settings.

I was wondering if this plugin will ever support being able to define custom size plots, for example select 2 points in a cuboid shape and then set that as a plot, instead of having to stick with the plot size defined in the config. This is the only reason I do not use this plugin, but if this feature was included I would love it and use it all the time!

You need some kind of permissions plugin

I'm getting this error while trying to delete, rename or use the /towny prices commands.
"an internal error occurred while attempting to perform this command"
I am logged in as admin so i shouldn't have any permission problems.

"You need some kind of permissions plugin"

if i can set this option in the towny config, i dont need any extern permissions-plugin.

so whats the mistake in this? in the not newst build it works.....

  11. Bukkit contains built in permissions now. Plugins default to this when no other permissions sytem is in use.

EDIT: after thought, you are correct. It should really use no permissions if that is set to false.
I'll have a think on the best way to go forward.

Get the dev, this was fixed already.

    Important Notice:

Everyone using Register.jar with Towny (If you use any econ plugin other than ico 5,) The dev build from this point forward requires Register 1.4, which is brand new. Anyone currently using register along with Towny will most likely have version 1.2 or 1.3. You must update Register.jar now to use the latest dev builds, anyone having trouble using BOSEconomy the new Register and Towny dev build solves the problems with town and nation banks not being created.

Register 1.4 will be required in the next release.

Anyone wondering about the current status of the dev build:
Use it, it is safe, stable and fixes all of the known issues.
There are new permission nodes in the dev build affecting /town spawn
    Code:
            - towny.town.spawn.* : Grants all Spawn travel nodes
            - towny.town.spawn.town : Ability to spawn to your own town.
            - towny.town.spawn.nation : Ability to spawn to other towns in your nation.
            - towny.town.spawn.ally : Ability to spawn to towns in nations allied with yours.
            - towny.town.spawn.public : Ability to spawn to unaffilated public towns.

Can anyone tell me the commands for PLOTS ONLY?

I'd like to turn on pvp, fire, build/destroy on in certain plots only to the public for certain projects and arena battles.

Does anyone know the commands for Plots? besides /Plot forsale, /Plot claim?

That sort of plot-level fire and explosion and pvp toggle is going to be added, but isn't available right now.

For the config.yml setting wild_revert_on_mob_explosion, is there a way to set a block exception for this?

    Suggestion:

Add an option in future releases, where Plot owners can add permissions for certain people (very similar to /town set perm option, but for user names, examples:
/plot set perm NAME build on/off
/plot set perm NAME destroy on/off
/plot set perm NAME switch on/off
/plot set perm NAME itemuse on/off
/plot set perm NAME all on/off

So, for instance, by that option implemented, people could set permissions to their friends, so that they can too build in their land

P.S. If I would have some spare money, I would gladly donate to you, since your plugin is really awesome!

That already exists, /res friend add playername adds players to your friends list. Resident-owned plots have friend perm-types.

Players cannot accept invites to towns on my server. It says they do not have leader permissions.

They have the towny.town.resident node, which allows people to join towns, but whenever I try to invite someone and they accept, they don't join and get the error that they don't have leader permissions.

    Nodes given to players:

    - towny.town.new
    - towny.town.claim
    - towny.town.resident
    - towny.wild.*

    Any ideas?

The leader permissions message is from SimpleClan I believe, you'll need to set an alias for /accept.

Yeah, I should've probably mentioned that I use SimpleClan. I was concerned there'd be conflict somewhere. Any idea how I'd go about setting up an alias as suggested?

    2 questions!
    1.
A Way to force players to join 1 of 2 particular towns through commands.
It currently asks them when I use /ta Town (townname) add (player) i want to force it

    2.
I would like it make it so that Kings and thier Nation Assistants are able to block edit all towns (that are in their nation), etc, regardless of how mayors setup permissions for thier town?
Currently the Nation Assistants are mayor of other town.

  28. Your essentials is out of date. Also only enable essentials in Towny if you are using the teleport timers of ess.

Join the IRC if you really need help, installing Towny is easy if you use the instructions linked in the first post.

You can open Questioner.jar (with winrar,) open the plugin.yml file within and alter the command to /townyaccept or something.

Like Elgarl said, whichever version of Essentials you're using is not meant for version 0.74 Towny.

The newest towny builds use Essentials 2.6

Is there a way to set a group with towny so they cant enter town? Like outlaws?

    Taien

Why would that be bad? He could just make a cuboid tool for Towny. It's really, really easy, in programming terms.

The hard part would be fitting the cuboids into the current system.
