I have had a minecraft server for a while, I just delete the folder and copy the world into the newly created folder when i download the new server.exe from minecraft.net I want to use bukkit but am unsure of what I should do.

    Here http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/cr...s-minecraft-1-8-compatible.26555/#post-478221

It says to either download the full version or the "patch". If I do not have craftbukkit can I use this patch? And if not then why is it when I install the craftbukkit 1.8 (listed above patch) when a client logs in it gives an "OUTDATED" error.

Thank you in advance for responses.

System: Win 7 Pro 64 bit.
16 GBs of RAM (reason I want bukkit is I heard you could allocate more RAM to Minecraft)

I highly recommend that you check out the link at the top of the page that says "Get CraftBukkit". It will bring you to a very detailed and easy-to-understand page that will explain how to upgrade your server to use Craftbukkit.

As far as the RAM thing goes, you are absolutely correct, just make sure that you are running 64bit java.

I don't know what the patch/full thing is, but I always would just go with the full install (it's roughly 8 MB).

The "OUTDATED" error is caused by you running Craftbukkit for Minecraft 1.7.3 but your client is on 1.8. This probably happened because you downloaded the latest recommended build (like you should do). However, Craftbukkit has not come out with a recommended build for 1.8. Because of this, I recommend that you wait for a recommended build that works with 1.8 before you upgrade your server. There are a lot of questions that you will have when you upgrade and not upgrading during a very confusing time (when people are forced to use non-recommended) builds is highly advised. Besides, it usually takes about a week for a recommended build to emerge (since Minecraft 1.8 was released).
