So i've been seeing many comments about how we should avoid essentials, so my question is why? They say it conflicts with other plugins but i've never had a problem with it.
Its mainly to be avoided because its bloated and while it does everything, it tends to do things you both want and dont care about. The better solution is to grab a few plugins that let you tailor your server to use only what you need, rather then going with the kitchen sink approach.
Also people use it and complain to other authors like for example: My last 5 support requests! "bPermissions.build won't let me build!" REASON: Essentials anti-build.
What do you need from Essentials in particular? Banning plugin? Aznbans. Teleport? Teleportsuite. Homes? HomeX. Spawn? SpawnX. Chat? HeroChat. Permissions? bPermissions. The list goes on and on. If you tell me what you need I can tell you what's better and why :3

All of those barring the godmode and memory can be done with commandbook. There are quite a few godmode plugins out there, I happen to use simplegod. edit: commandbook can also be customized to run only the commands you want.
