Is there a good way to "flesh out" a map to let's say 2000 blocks from 0,64,0? I have a plugin to prevent people from going X blocks away from X,Y,Z point, but exploration of new chunks is something I want to avoid on a public server.

I had this same question a few days ago.

WorldBorder works wonders for that purpose. [link]

You don't need the bukkit version unless you are using a biome plugin or something else to modify the terrain. If you just want a pre-generated vanilla style map, this works very well with 1.8. I'd suggest creating one a bit larger than you plan to have your borders set to, or as people hit the border, it will cause the server to generate new terrain on the edge.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

I was having trouble getting plugins to do the job with the new 1.8 bukkit jars. I think the minecraft land generator will do exactly what I need though.

is there anyway to stop players from entering/loading any new chunks? only the existing chunks. My servers map is very large and odd shaped and i want to stop new chunks from generating with 1.8 seed.
