I keep seeing 1.8 bukkit plugins popping up, but when i look at the wiki both the dev build and the recommended build say 1.7.3? I'm confused

@champity I had a lot of luck...the only function having issues was onMove, the general physics code hardly needed changes! (thanks to me using the old variables in a separate class)

And: TrainCarts works nicely in 1.8. I'm so happy :D

Wrong, There are builds, but no RECCOMENDED BUILD. Hold up folks, its on its way

Recommended build or not: it is at least nice to check your plugin for compatibility issues. :)

    Yes, I agree.

Recommended build won't be very different that the "normal" build.

So for checking compatibility plugin that's nice ;)

Well if you work with native methods...it's a hell. I seriously wish @SpoutDev a lot of luck to get their plugin framework compatible again...EVERY SINGLE method got renamed and turned around... :S

Other than that, didn't really look into the new 1.8 Bukkit jar, but I guess there are now setExp, getExp, setFoodLevel, getFoodLevel and isRunning fields. And of course the new mobs, and I expect some new environments too (creative) or it is set as a world field. The blocks, tile entities and regular entities got something new too, since all methods got renamed. (Alphabetical, so if they add a new method it would rename all existing methods)

  17. no isRunning, but I just realized how amazing it would be to get that

DONT USE THIS BUILD! It completely destroyed my server, it put random water in my city (massive lakes) put mountains in my mob and left a massive hole (100x100 roughly) in the middle of and ocean near the spawn and went straight threw the bedrock into the void. Luckily I had it backed up, but i lost alot of progress. DONT USE IT, JUST WAIT FOR THE RECOMENDED BUILD!

That ^ plus methods to change a specific players gamemode

@zerabog Then I have got bad news for you. 1.8 uses a new World chunk generator. Every world made in 1.73 will become corrupted in 1.8, I had the same in SP.
    - Ocean water levels differ
    - New biomes; thus new landscape heights

You will probably have to use MCEdit to transfer your world over to a 1.8 world generated using 1.8. You better believe it, but 1.73 worlds will NOT and NEVER work on 1.8.

@alexanderpas better explain to me then how a huge ocean was spawned on top of my city. :)

    using a non-RB?

  24. Offline

    bergerkiller

@alexanderpas Yup non_RB ofc. But since they simply use the native chunk generators in their build...what could go wrong? It's up to Notch to convert 1.73 worlds. Also, using the SP generator (load 1.73 world in 1.8) the same happens, so not really related to craftbukkit. Since craftbukkit is basically a wrapper around Notch coding, I don't really expect 1.8 craftbukkit/notch server to become compatible...

Remember if you use dev. builds always back up your world on at least a 6 hour interval, 1.8 has been known to crash servers entirely and corrupt worlds.

Using newest dev build for days have never encoutered a crash.
Some of you guys are doin it wrong :) Most 1060 Plugins works perfectly fine :)
