Request on a mod, that you are going to install on the server, and the client side. Just like SDK's gun mod. but only the golden money, crafted like so: (CREDITS: ScottyDoesKnow) It could be awesome for normal private serveres or so. and gold would actually be somenthing worth.
client mod... i think good idea tho... EDIT: Oops, im sorry... i didn't see that you said you would provide a client mod... ill look into it
Client mods are not really a good idea for something like this. Every player on the server would need them, and there's no good way to ensure that.
You can't add custom items without client mods, so it's either that or iconomy. Blame notch. You could try and mod gold ore to be smeltable into several gold bars, though, which would make them somewhat less rare and more usable as a currency. Or make each gold block drop several pieces gold ore, i think there's some plugins that can do this already.
But then if anyone joins your server who doesn't have the mod installed, they will crash as soon as they see a gold coin...
hmmm... there should be a way to do this without causing any problems... if the client simply 'translates' the currency into something visual... what do you guys think?
this is exactly the plugin i was searching for. If this ever does do to a plugin I would definitely be the first to install.
We plan to use exact the same currency/system on our upcoming server, only diffrence is we want 1 Gold Ingot to be 10 Gold Coins In other words: I second this request But we'll have to wait for the Spout Client API for that Oh yeah there could be a little GUI added to display the amount of coins you have with spout - but it wouldn't be craftable or displayed as a item yet - of course someone could walk down the ItemCraft route but this has no any future... Why would there be a need for spout? It can simply be a client mod, and since it's not a cheat, it does not cause a ban. Do all client mods automatically kickban players? I use audiomod and listen to my own music...
I rather wait for Spout supporting these features, 1. because I am using Spout and 2. because it dosn't require the players to install any mods.

The plugin called MoneyDrop goes a little distance towards this. Whilst it doesn't use coins, it does allow you to "drop" physical money when you or a mob dies (and combined with OtherDrops you can drop these "coins" from any block/mob under custom conditions). When the MoneyDrop coins are picked up they just get added to your economy plugin balance.
