    Multiverse 2 - World Creation/Management/Teleportation & More
    Current Version: 2.2-AB

    Description
Multiverse 2 is a ground up rewrite of the popular Multiverse plugin for CraftBukkit. There are many new features, the biggest one being the much better usability and cleaner code! MV2 has been in the works for over 2 months and given the size of it, the developers are confident that you'll find a small bug or two. Please come into our IRC channel and discuss politely with us and we'll get it resolved quick-fastly!

Looking for the old version that runs on CraftBukkit 1000? We don't have it anymore :( Here's an archive of the old help post. If you're a new user, we REALLY recommend using Multiverse 2..

    • Fixed whitelist/blacklisting once and for all :), thanks to @ledhead900
    • Add permission node 'multiverse.portal.exempt' -- Basically means they don't have to pay the cost of the portal... this is useful for Donors and such.
    • Updated to use iConomy 4.1 -- Would be great if I can get feedback on this... as usual I can only test solo.
    Version 1.4 - Permissions 2.0 & 2.1 - (V1.4 - 26/02/2011 - 01:11 AM GMT)

    • Should be easier on high pop servers now
      • Only checks if a player is within a Portal everytime he changes BLOCK Coordinate instead of every single pixel footstep he/she takes.
    • Now Supports Permissions 2.1 -- Both 2.1 and 2.0 support have seperate JARs, so get the right one.
      • Also commands are properly disabled when a Permissions plugin is not found and it will alert the player trying to use the Command.
    Version 1.3 - Permissions 2.0 - (V1.3 - 24/02/2011 - 02:31 AM GMT)

    • Removed the 'Stupidly Long Constructor'
    • Fixed an error which was loading portals that were on a non existent world which caused errors later on.
    Version 1.2.2 - (V1.2.2 - 23/02/2011 - 03:05 AM GMT)

    • Nothing much just updated so it works with Minecraft Beta 1.3, I suggest you don't use a lower Multiverse build than v1.2.2 otherwise it won't work and errors will occur.
    Version 1.2.1 - (V1.2.1 - 20/02/2011 - 23:35 PM GMT)

    • Changed over to the new Entity Damage...

I knew that request was coming :p

Atm a Portal can link to any Portal, the idea behind this was I didn't intend to replace your generic 'WarpGate' plugins etc, this was more to provide functionality between worlds, however I will look into this.

Will definately note down your request and look into it.

The following is just explaining my situation and what I intend to do for those that are sitting around waiting :), and is not intended to be a rant or moan.

Regarding the lack of information/guide/HowTo's for the plugin.... when I'm not busy trying to get features/bug fixes out I'm trying to have some fun in a game or sleep :p; also the last few days I've felt like crap combination of lack of sleep and struck down by illness, so I'm behind in progress than what I would of liked, I'm still up now at 8:30 AM trying to get through the last features in 1.2... Permissions finally done thanks to some help from Protected.

Soooooooooo hopefully the core of the plugin will be done shortly so that I have the spare time to get a full guide and tutorial out, once that's done I'll probably take on some extra feature requests or move onto another plugin.

I hope you feel better and take your damn time. Multiworlds is just to damn new and you should relax. Hell I don't plan on risking testing it for a good week or 2 :p

Wait what am I talking about my servers still 1.1 ;)

Are you sure this doesn't fall under the Whitelisting and Blacklisting???

    Code:
        world:
            animals: true
            spawn: -87:65:15:449.8506:15.450077
            price: 0.0
            mobs: true
            environment: NORMAL
            ratio: 1
            alias: ''
            pvp: false
            playerWhitelist: Rigby90,g:Moderators
            playerBlacklist: TestGuy1,TestGuy2,g:Noobs
            worldBlacklist: hell,

In this example Rigby90 and all the Moderators can get into the world... but TestGuy1 & 2 and the group Noobs cannot....

Also the worldBlacklist means that people within the world hell cannot directly portal to this world.
    --- merged: Feb 18, 2011 8:35 AM ---
heh, well the way I see it is I've left quite a few silly mistakes in previous versions which people keep coming across so trying to spend as much time on it fixing it and getting it out ASAP... these bugs are also taking time out of my day to reply to and fix.

But it's also the fact that I don't want to release a new version without releasing the features I've worked on and which people are waiting for :).

    Cosmic Break

    so, world blacklist/whitelist does work?

  6. Offline

    Rigby90

With the version I'm currently working on "blacklist" does, not sure whether to add WhiteList. I don't see any need to :S.

I can implement it, I just can't think of a valid reason atm... may just be me :O.

Unless you want it so when you whitelist it all worlds by default are then blocked apart from whitelisted ones.

  7. Offline

    Kane

well I will never be able to have a public world on my server without a whitelist.

I plan to have a public pvp world then allow only my members to leave it to go to the main build world. But if any chance at all the public pvpers can some how get onto my build server then its game over.

  8. Offline

    Rigby90

Hmmm, player whitelist and blacklist exists.... in that sense.

What Cosmic break wants is the following...

    Code:
    worlds:
        creative:
            playerWhitelist:
            playerBlacklist:
            worldBlacklist: griefers,
        trialist:
            playerWhitelist:
            playerBlacklist:
            worldBlacklist:
        griefers:
            playerWhitelist:
            playerBlacklist:
            worldBlacklist:

So 'creative' has 'griefers' blacklisted, this means people on the 'griefers' world cannot go directly to the 'creative' world... the only way they can get there is through a world which isn't black listed, in this example the only other world possible is 'trialist' so the player would have to go to 'trialist' then find a portal within 'trialist' to get to 'creative'

Confusing, not sure why its needed but its implemented already. Just need to double check on the 'worldWhitelist' feature as to why its needed and that'll go in.

Holy crap... I'm so confused. I feel id make a mistake and fuck my server up forever haha. I need sleep its 4am but ahh that was confusing for me :)

    ledhead900

Ah so this was the famouse blacklist u was on about, I though ut was reffering to ITEM blacklisting lol thats why I made my posts about other plugins doing this already.

YES YES Blacklist is a GREAT IDEA for blacklisting groups to worlds.

Suggestion tho to Make sure it allows JUST groups and not only names, I woud really hate to try out this new version to find I have to add ppl manually to this list blacklist via name and GROUP.

Simply just Blacklist: Username,g:groupname will do fine as in the example but I hope I can just add
Blacklist:g:Groupname and call it a day.

Forget about the whitelist who needs that. Tbh thats just digging in your play time :p

Thanks for looking into my other request its not a big deal just now now I can easily not give out the portal list command to players and let them share names for now.

    Also

    "caution TL:DR Ahead"
I dont intend to try get rid of other plugins I just see any point running another plugin to do purly that one thing so installing Warpgates is out of the question as I know far to well the PAIN that comes from dealing with LIKE plugins installed under the same server. I perfer to install one plugin to mange all of this and one to manage of all that ect. I do my best to try find things that do a lot well before lookig at others to fill in gaps.

TBH its survival of fittest each dev has a choice - avoid like plugins and steer clear of work in that area or have a like minded opinion and think oh well Im going to include that kind of feature anyway as each plugin has a choice to expand or be dedicated to doing a certain thing.

Eaither way you lose out as Somepeople like me Will miss out on features to players based on ability to control them / due to decisions made to not include feature sets other plugins do already, or you will end up with a DEV complaining ur trying to ruin him.

If I EVER had a dev complain to me that I was trying to ruin him by making my plugin better by including something his did Id be furiouse as I would only be adding alike features to compensate for missing features in there plugin.

Think about why are there so many plugins I can tell you why that is, It's because devs create alike plugins that fill in gaps that another plugin may not already be doing or doing in way other users would like.

I guess my conclusion to this would be just to not give a stuff and develop a plugin as u wish it to be even if other plugins are doing alike things as the end goal of even allowing simlar plugins to be listed is so the community has a larger pool of chooices to choose from and thus a greater chance to find a plugin to suit there needs/requirements.

Some people like simpler less bulky addons, and would choose 5 /6 of these to fill in voids. Others like me will choose 2 /4 main heaver plugins that do the majority of there requirements and then fill in voids with side plugins that are specificly created to serve one purpose.

People who choose the 5/6 method usually will install plugins that do a lot of the same things only differently in some ways.

People like me will choose plugins that DO a LOT in one plugin but little that others that they are using do.

And this is why I think it is silly to base an decision on fact that another plugin already does portals, sure it does, but does it do worlds as well probably not and this my friend is the point in time u need to make a decision to eaither go large and possibly annoy another dev if they are foolish enough to think ur trying to ruin them or stick to what you are doing and providing great World tp.

Let me just finish with this, there are other plugins doing what yours does just not as well or imo just not the way I would like them to do it, and that takes us back to my Conclusion.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

End of the day ill be eaither Leaving it how it is or making strict rules on portal creation for players and keeping an eye on how there portals are used more to make sure there not abusing it if no portal sharing thing is put in place.
    --- merged: Feb 18, 2011 9:53 AM ---
Yea I kinda just want what u posted before for blacklist just a Blacklist of groups that CANNOT portal or TP to that world period.

I dont see a need to whitelist coz if its blacklisted a group then anyone not in that group should be allowed to pass freely between those worlds.

ACtually come to think of it whitelist might be needed but only a GLOBAL whitelist of groups that would just IGNORE the blacklist of indivual worlds.

    for example

    WorldA:blacklisted:all
    WorldB:blacklisted:Noob
    WorldC

    Ignoreblacklist:Admins,Mods

    in that example

    everyone can go to WorldC
Noobs group cannot go to WorldB
Admin and Moderators group can go WorldA but no one else can!

UPDATE - As usual, if you find any errors please post back here with AS MUCH information regarding the error and how you came across it as you can AND REMEMBER TO BACKUP CONFIGS AND WORLDS... I won't accept any "YOU BROKE MY WORLD" comments, you're administrating a server, do it properly :).

    Version 1.2 - (V1.2 - 18/02/2011 - 10:50 AM GMT)
    • Per World PVP - Read on to find out how...
      • In order to get PVP per world, you need to turn PVP on within 'server.properties', then within the 'worlds.yml' file you disable it individually per world - This is a quick workaround till it is implemented via CraftBukkit.
    • Each World now has 'joinWhitelist' and 'joinBlacklist' to prevent/allow players or groups from enterring a world.
      • A group can be blackListed but a player within that group can be whitelisted in order to gain access.
    • Each World also has a 'worldBlacklist' feature, this prevents players from specific worlds portalling directly to the World.
    • Water & Lava no longer flows within a designated portal area, this allows for water portals.
    • Fixed an issue with Player Respawning which was using old code/coordinates.
    • Portal -> Portal teleportation no longer places you ontop of the Portal
      • Instead it finds the center of a portal then works its way outwards till it finds a safe spot which is not part of a portal, this is to prevent death or infinite teleportation loops. (Maybe some more work to do).
    • Hopefully picked up most of the NPE errors when using commands that require Arguments.
      • If I've missed any please reply here with the command and syntax you used.
    • Portal Immunity, only the portal owner and administrators can destroy and place blocks within a designated portal area - Requires 'multiverse.portal.override'
    • Admins can remove/rename/change destination of all portals - Requires 'multiverse.portal.override'
    • People without portal rights can no longer set coordinates, there was no need and just spammed chat.
    • Infowand now displays the correct destination information.
    • Fixed iConomy, should now charge the correct prices for portals.
    • Basic SinglePlayer Based portals
      • Fall back, if no portal is found in the config and no sign is found then the portal will act as a standard SinglePlayer NetherPortal.
      • Distance Factor is 8x which is the same as SinglePlayer.
      • When travelling to the Nether it checks the area for Portals, if a portal is found you will be teleported to it.
      • If no portal is found you will be placed in a safe spot, if 'autobuild' is set in the config a portal will be built for you.
      • When travelling back to the normal world, no portals are built as this is to protect any structures as currently it isn't safe.
      • Check the Default Configuration file which comes in the Zip Download for comments on how to set it up.
      • The 'respawntodefault' setting is not working at the moment so it has been disabled, this is a problem within Minecraft itself... it doesn't seem to like a teleport directly after respawning :).

wait a second I have more questions - If we blacklist a group on a world where does it place players in that group.

secondly how do we dictate what world is default and so that new players will spawn on that world and not the one named world.

    Nice.
One more question: How about instead of having a infowand, why not just display the portal info it the player goes within a certain range of the portal? Like "portalinforange: 2" => "if the player comes anywhere near 2 blocks of the portal, display informations about portal". You could make it active for only certain portals, for ultimate customizability, as in, let the administrator choose what how to handle it: infowand, or range, or both. (like a field in the Portals.yml). To avoid spamming/"woops that passed by so fast", just display the info once every 5 sec or something, or just once.
    --- merged: Feb 18, 2011 4:00 PM ---
Another thing: Do you think the "can't build in different world on join" bug can be bypassed by, whenever a player enters, store current x/y/z+world, warp him back to the default world, warp him back to the world he was in to x/y/z? Like, creating a OnPlayerJoin event (if existing in Bukkit)

Is it possible to force the player to be "within" certain materials? I don't want to allow my players to just make portals anywhere, but obsidian portals would work fine if I could force them to be within a portal block.

Edit: Potentially add an option to check for a certain amount of block type "X" when using /mvpc?

Hey, I'm setting up 2 other worlds, an underworld, and a nether. Already have the worlds set up and working! yay!
I'm confused about how to actually make the portals though, when I try and create a portal, it says "You have not set your coordinates yet." I'm unsure about what to do.

    In the /mvpc help description it says /mvpc {PORTALNAME} [P:pORTALNAME], or [W:WORLDNAME]

Can anyone enlighten me on actually creating the portal?

You can create a basic gate and use it as a SinglePlayer styled gate.

Ermm and you can disable Mobs/Animals if you want to... but not JUST Ghasts.
    --- merged: Feb 18, 2011 6:35 PM ---
You can't black list a server from the default world, all the blacklisting does is prevent people from using portals to get to that world.

The user will always spawn in the default world setup in server.properties.
    --- merged: Feb 18, 2011 6:37 PM ---
It's a good idea how ever I don't want people walking around randomly picking up portal details without specifically requesting them, if Obsidian is too hard to come across to use as a Infowand set it to something else :).

I've looked into that option to get passed that bug, however teleporting a user back and forth seems to cause ALOT of minecraft errors... Will still look into it but need a more concrete method which won't crash the server or client.
    --- merged: Feb 18, 2011 6:38 PM ---
If you mean with distance factors... I should be implementing that sometime this weekend to allow a basic portal with the destination of 'w:creative' to take the current coordinates and take into account the distance factor on that world and teleport the player appropriately.
    --- merged: Feb 18, 2011 6:47 PM ---
Sorry theres this option already I just never released it, this goes in the MultiVerse.yml file and will restrict portals to the standard netherportal with 6 portal blocks.

    Code:
    realportals: false
    or

    Code:
    realportals: true
    --- merged: Feb 18, 2011 6:48 PM ---
hmm will look into it, however when teleporting doesnt happen it either means an addon is conflicting or there was no safe destination found... I'll implement an error message to show to the user if the destination is blocked.
    --- merged: Feb 18, 2011 6:49 PM ---
That's what I like to here :), glad it's not breaking it anymore.
    --- merged: Feb 18, 2011 6:50 PM ---
Glad people are enjoying this plugin so much :).
    --- merged: Feb 18, 2011 6:51 PM ---
You need to get a wooden pickaxe and set the coordinates/bounds of the portal, you do this by left clicking and right clicking and then if anything passes between those points they will be teleported to the destination.

If you are having trouble theres a HowTo at the bottom of the first post which was made by someone who uses the plugin :).

I'd like to request(I dont know if it's been requested before, but if it has, I'd like to vote for) the ability to change whether a world can be modified or not.
In other words, make players unable to place or destroy blocks.
The reason I'd like to see this added, is for the ability to run backups of previous maps as separate worlds, for a museum-like effect.
Heck, I may have already requested it, honestly I can't remember. the point is, I would love to see this added, and I really hope you'll consider it ^^

I know someone did, however I was going to ditch this because of WorldGuard etc... but seeing as the major things are out now and they just need tweaking I could possibly find time to add that in as well.

This is almost perfect. My only issue is that the blocks can be removed and the portal stays, or the players can set a larger areas that allow porting to the side/top of the portal, but this mod is too great to complain too much. I really look forward to seeing what else you add [IMG]

Good point, will check its only 4x5 or w/e the portal dimensions are....

and will make it so you cant destroy the blocks unless the portals been removed before hand.

This plugin seems to conflict with a plugin called TravelPortals. Would you mind taking a look at the source code and trying to find any obvious problems? I know it's not your plugin, but it's author doesn't have the time to look at it.

Either that, or could you possibly release just the multiworld supporting bit about it? I believe it is the portal part of the code is what's conflicting, and there aren't any plugins that do nothing but enable multiple worlds. This is the only one that enables multiple worlds, and while it's superb, the other aspects of it seem to cause problems.

Will look into it, hows it conflicting btw?

And I was thinking of splitting the plugin anyways... dedicate one part to managing multiworlds... then another to portalling between them. Will see
