I am also getting the "I'm sorry, dave, I can't let you do that" when I try and run standard server commands. Specifically I am trying to add users to my whitelist from the in game command. All of my plugin commands are working okay.

    Halp?

Hey, the error means you haven't set up port forwarding correctly, or you still have the normal minecraft server set up to use that port. See my other post (linked in the starting thread) and see if it might solve the problem

This is bukkit's new sneaky way of forcing people to use bukkit's inbuilt permissions system. You need to set up permissions using their system in order for all your commands to work in game. I can't show you how it's done yet cos I haven't updated to 1060 yet ( not enough time to spare to mess around with) but there are a few vague tutorials out there to show you how it's done.

Your best bet though is to stay on RB1000 until some adequate tutorial comes along

I keep getting an error "Cannot find java.exe". I tried setting the path in environment variables, and have definitely installed it. But alas, Bukkit cannot find it to save it's life.

    • What OS are you using (Brand and version)? Windows XP Pro-64
    • What architecture is the OS you are running (x64 or x86)? x64
    • What version and architecture is your java install? Java 1.6_026 and 7.0.b147
    • Are you trying to portforward, or use Hamachi? No (Not necessary)
    • What error are you getting (post your server.log and server.properties files)? Java.exe is not a recognized internal or external command
    • What have you tried already? Reinstalling Java 6, 7. Expressing in Environment Variables. Confirmed other Java-dependant programs (such as the Mojang official client and server) work.

Ok, maybe try removing one of the java versions to start with then use the patch.

    t
the gui will only show up after you run the server for the first time. So, if you've let the server run once, the next time you start it up it should go too the GUI automatically

its a bug with the system, if you're on the same pc as the server, you can only connect using localhost. Everyone else needs your External IP with port to connect. So, they would use something like 64.125.24.541:25565 to connect

sup man...hey norton tried to tell me your installer was infested with a virus or contained a threat or some such nonsense, i didn't put much stock in it, cuz i trust the file and the maker...however your download site is giving me grief lol cuz norton rejected it i have to disable my protection to dl the file but the site is making me wait 600 seconds...figured i'd let u know...maybe u mentioned it and i missed it...but if u didn't might mention that norton users will need to disable their stuff or wait a long ass time to get the installer...Ps...i'm not really complaining merely just passing this on and killing time waiting for the file.

hey, what do you mean you have to wait 600 seconds for the file?! I was certain fileserve only had a wait time of 15seconds.
As for the Norton issue, i was aware of it, thanks. It's because no one has rated this software with Norton and because it contains batch files. So its just Norton being paranoid :p
PS> i'll check into the extreme wait time, but if you want to try the second mirror, CNET might have finished processing the newer version and you can download it from there. (version 8.1)

It still is not showing up i still have to click snapshot..
when the batch runs in cmd it says access is denied to the appdata/temp file locations

Hey, also to add if your connecting from the same computer as the server u will use 127.0.0.1 to connect.
If connecting from another computer outside ur home network i.e. friends house, library etc... you will need your external ip as imminent said, and that will require port forwarding by accessing your routers firewall settings/config

does this support spout? or will i need to get the spout server side jar

also if you altered the IP line delete your entry and save you dont need to edit that line at all.

took the liberty of recreating the issue for you...here's proof

you will need the spout jar files, although i might request the owner's permission to incorporate Spout into the file at a later date. Do you think beginners would be able to get around spout?

thanks for that, I think its because of how the file hosting service works, it only lets you download one file every 10 minutes. Its crap, I know, but its the only way i can make any revenue off of this and my other projects. But don't worry, soon CNET will authorise my latest version of the file on Download.com, so the file will be available there as well

I think your idea of an installer is brilliant...and yes I do think you should try to get permission to include spout for both server and user sides...most people dont even know what spout is yet or what it is capable of, much less where it goes in the .craftbukkit folder. I realize in a few weeks 1.8 will be hitting and all this code will have to be rewritten but...hopefully we'll have our beloved mods again soon

yes, spout is quite good, but i may create a seperate installer with spout, permissions and a few other useful plugins for advanced users.

    what do you mean, rude?

  26. Offline

    Chrysus

Rude in the sense that it makes you wait 600 seconds to download it a second time. (My norton removed it the first time and now I'm waiting for that 600 seconds to tick down to 0, and I'm not very happy.)

Ok so I can install it and everything and run it. BUT i'm having some issues with what is the stupidesst thing ever. I go into the notepad that says Ops.txt and run it and I put my username in it. However, when i go into the game, i cant spawn items or even change the time of day, do i have to set those up with plugins or did i do sumthin wrong?

  29. Offline

    ImminentFate

@Justinisepic you have to use the right commands. To set the time you use:
    /time set [0-24000]
    And to spawn items:
    /give [username] [item id] [amount] e.g /give justiniscool 46 64 ( will give you 64 TNT)

Byt there are plugins to make thus easier. Use AdminCMD
