    hi, where can i find the permissions nodes?? i want to set it up so users cant just run around spawning npcs everywhere

    What is going to be in the next update? *maybe* Minecolony style workers ;)! What do the alchemy people do too?

    @Lightzaver - we may work on those kinds of npcs for the future. The alchemy guys perform custom recipes but can't be finished yet due to lack of inventory events.
    @Altobot - when it's thoroughly tested. As of now, the paucity of testers mean that the release is going slower than anticipated.

    Custom...as in...you decide what items need to be combined to craft an item.

    Is there some documentation on the questing NPC's and the format to write quests in? I don't see any wiki links or anything

    No. Questers are not finished yet, so there isn't any documentation on them. Once they are finished (most likely in v1.1), there will be documentation on our new wiki.

    I use IPB and I think you are missing my whole point- I am entirely dependent on a forum bridge for all administration, subscriptions, staff positions and whitelisting, the forum bridge looks into the IPB table when someone logs in and calls for the P3 plugin to change it's group(s) accordingly. I am sure the bridge works fine with any and all plugins requiring P3, but this one calls for P3 to change a group. Now, I highly doubt SuperPermsBridge support's P3's functions in terms of editing the list and when writing the SuperPerms to the bridge, checks for custom modifications done by the bridge in question.


    Of course, I could be completely wrong and in that case I apologize, but it would be inefficient and I doubt it would work...

    I understand the push towards SuperPerms, but I disagree it should come from existing plugins simply because Permissions 3 DID offer some features that still blew anything else out of the water for a while and I have to admit the idea of anyone telling me "Use the plugin I want you to use or eff off" doesn't make me very happy. With all due respect, "build it and they will come". Nevertheless the Citizens authors spend a lot of free times on this plugin and even if they decide to require a monkey playing the cymbals near all teleportals in a future version- that's wholly in their rights.


    I am just stating I (personally) will have a lot of problems switching and testing it out is not an option for now- I have to many people online at all times to risk any major issues (and yeah, backing up for me is an absolute pain due that too, with the gigantic world size it's at least 20 minutes of downtime) .


    Once again, thank you for developing this plugin. It's a shame however you drop support for P3 so early..

    I WAs going to re download this plugin but if you are getting rid of permissions support.... i guess im not.

    good luck with the bukkit permissions ( i still cant understand what they want there, and i thought regular permissions was confuse)

    So what are my permissions options? I use 2.7.4 now, and need to know what to go to at this point. Half my plugins won't support 2.7.4 anymore, but won't support bukkit permissions. Is pex still a viable option?

    With this announcement, I will now start looking into how to bridge Permissions 3.0 back into Citizens. Thanks for the heads-up.

    - Not interested in BukketPermissions after testing it, neither are users on my server.

    Why? That seems completely unfounded. The existing bridge plugin works great... No offense but from the sound of it you didn't implement the new nodes with SuperPerms Bridge via PermissionBukkit. That's the only way the users would see any difference.

    Unfounded = Without any reason. I have reasons.

    For starters, many plugins we are interested in are not using Permissions, and so I am already having to bridge them to Permissions 3.x. SuperPerms does not offer the same adjustment, which is not a fault of SuperPerms, but rather a complete lack of convenience. Because of this lack of bridge (for older, still functional plugins), and the effects this had, the plugin had a noticeable affect on my players

    Then there is the way it was presented, I'm old and I don't like many major changes. Suddenly, a wild Permissions appears, whether you want it or not. Even if I didn't wish to use it, it's in the code and already loaded "just in case I happen to change my mind'. The attitude of "everyone will want this" that is demonstrated here as well, that makes me disinterested.

    Now then, this is hardly the place for me to continue, but I hope that silences your amazing outrage. In future, please remember this is a Citizens thread, not a SuperPerms thread, keep it on topic thank you.

    Is permissions still being maintained? If not maybe your main priority is complaining to developers to maintain it...

    No rage, I was merely wondering. Otherwise thered be an f7u12 in there somewhere.

    Granted this is the citizens forum, but you mentioned that you weren't interested in Superperms, which is why I asked. ;)

    That said, these are flatfile plugins? I didn't even know those were still around.

    I'm old too, (its all relative) but I gave up on that mentality a long time ago.

    It's not having a standard in place that caused this problem to begin with. Citizens is just riding the wave of change, can't blame them for that.

    All said and done though, more power to you for going the extra mile to make things work... Can't fault you there. But I will, however, let the mods tell me to stay on topic or not. ;)

    I only appear to be able to have 11 npcs out at once. If I spawn more, and later restart the server, it only loads those first 11. No duplicate names used.

    Ok so i added this plugin and everything works perfectly fine, as do permissions seeing as im OP. So i have Permissionsbukkit and i added bpermissions (the one that makes other plugins compatible?) and since then i can now not create NPC's. Says i do not have permissions.

    So im stuck now cause the only permissions i see available for this plugin are these:

    Command Permission Description
    /citizens citizens.admin.info View general Citizens information
    /citizens debug citizens.admin.debug Toggle debug mode, if debug is on, debug messages will print to the console
    /citizens reload citizens.admin.reload Reload Citizens configuration files
    /citizens save citizens.admin.save Save Citizens files
    /citizens clean citizens.admin.clean Removes all "ghost" entities in your world

    so how do i add myself (user) or (group) to admin if there isnt a permission for it? unless there is and i just havent found it yet :p Thanks in advance guys.

    Citizens currently isn't working with superperms (i.e. PermissionsBukkit and bPermissions). A bug in 1.0.9d causes the incompatibility. However, 1.1 will have working superperms support.

    but it does work when im not using bpermissions :confused:, fully works. i have npc's that i placed already and they are still there, but since i added bpermissions now its saying i dont have permission so it should just be as simple as allowing a command to go through on both sides. Permissionsbukkit is allowing it while bpermissions is not would be my best guess. *hella confused face* :p

    Just a quick question, can the NPCs be used as guards(Attack players on sight if they get to close!). Or is there another plugin with this feature ? =)
