Support for this plugin is discontinued. To the successors project page:Gift Bukkit Plugin WelcomeGift Version 0.2.0 A welcome gift for your players to show them how important they are to you. Summary Surprise unknown players and show them how important they are to you. Help them to gain a foothold on your server by offering them a unique welcome gift. WelcomeGift is easy to configure and requires no maintenance. I moved WelcomeGift to http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/welcomegift/.
I personally prefer Permissions 3.1.x over SuperPerms, but most people will disagree. It was inevitable that an unofficial permissions plugin got replaced by an official Bukkit one (unfortunately).
I totally agree. I would also prefer to support Permissions 3 but this would make me work against a very important trend. Since Permissions 3 is inactive all developers are forced to drop the support for it over time. Actually it was a smart move.
WelcomeGift doesn't support Bukkit's own Permission-API because there are still serious issues with almost all permission management systems. I already have an updated version but I won't release it until the issues are resolved. To answer your question: the current version supports Permission 3 only.
Update to v0.2.0: - now with Superperms! - removed support for Permissions 3 but the old version is still available. And WelcomeGift moved to http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/welcomegift/ but this doesn't mean I'm going to ignore your posts. Have Fun!
The plugin doesn't want to give a prize to any member of my server I gave them permissions to get a gift(I have the "*" node aswell) but nothing happens. There is no error, and the server runs the plugin normally. I also tried to run it with the default config, with no success(Nobody is on the KnownPlayers list). I'm running cb #1060. I'm curious if it works for anyone else, and if I'm doing something wrong myself.
Hmm... There are a lot of problems with bPermissions... I will take care about this issue in the evening or tomorrow morning. You can fall back to 0.1.0 or try out an other permission manager in the meanwhile and tell me the results. Thanks for the information.
I've just tried it with 0.1.0 but nothing changes :/ I haven't tried switching the permissions plugin as it would delete all my current hard work and I'd need to re-do everything on the new plugin :/ So far everything I tried worked with bPermissions, even the things that I couldn't get done with PermissionsBukkit, so I see no reason how this can't be working But don't bother with this too much... I can always give new players gold manually with the /give command.
I took the time to install a new permissions manager PermissionsEx! The plugin really works with them! I guess I'll be using this permissions plugin from now on... the old one was giving me other trouble aswell Thank you for your attempts in helping me!
I have to thank you for this information, sir! I reported this issue to codename_B, the maker of bPermissions but he couldn't help me. I also read the code of his plugin and found no clue to this behaviour. I tested this out many times with many slightly different configurations and permission manager and only bPermissions causes (actually I don't know exactly) this problem. I added a thread to the internal forum of WelcomeGift on dev.bukkit.org (see link in OP) where people can report more infos about this issue, if they are willing to.
labman I have to thank you for your laud. You may have overlooked the hint on the project site, that the plugin is "abandoned". In fact it's not really, otherwise I wouldn't answer, but you should check out the successor: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/gift/ To answer your question: You can find the item ids on this wiki-page: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Data_values Have fun! - obnoxint.
I am more of fan of PermissionsBukkit, because of it's ease of use and I am definatly using this if it supports it.
