How do I stop people from using commands

Hi. I'm renting a multiplay server which uses bukkit. The only mods I'm using are AutoSave 2.0.1, Nether 1.2, Persistence 0.63, PlgEssentials 4.6, Remote Bukkit 0.4, and SQLite 3.7.2-1.

Basically, its a 4 slot server (its me and two friends) and one of my friends is generally cocking about while me and the other friend are trying to play survival. He is spawning mobs in our house and using stupid commands etc, but I don't want to ban him, I just want to stop him from using the plgessentials commands. I removed myself from the op list and I can still use commands so thats not doing anything. Help please?

 

Try using a permission manager. If you don't want to do this you can use the essentials plugin.. With the essentials plugin in the config file. You can pick any commands that you don't want non OPS to use.

 

I don't see a config file or essentials config file anywhere. All I get are banned-ips.txt, banned-players.txt, bukkit.yml, ops.txt, permissions.yml (which is empty), the autosave config, the nether config, the remote bukkit plugin, server.properties, and white-list.txt. I'm relatively new to all this but I do understand the basics...

edit : what permission manager would you reccomend? I need one that works with a multiplay server (who I'm renting it from) and something that is relatively simple.

 

There are no simple permission managers.

I however recommend permissionsBukkit. permissoinsBukkit uses SuperPerms.. The new default permissions for Bukkit.

Just look for the essentials plugin. This has tons of options to restrict commands even without a permissions manager.

 

So how do I use permissions.yml? I really wish there was a way to just make it so a list of people can't use commands.

In the permissions.yml you can create your own custom permissions nodes.. This file is not actualy needed.. This is part of an advanced set up.

plgEssentials and Essentials are 2 different plugins.. I see your confusion.

 

can u help me with permissions i know how to it works and all, but not how to give people access to that and that command and to deny guest to use server-commands like: stop, reload,kill,spawn,lightning and more

for i am testing it out and can't block the not ops to spawn and use default commands.
so i am almost begging for help.

 

Players cant use server commands unless you OP them.. Never OP players that do not own the server... this is not needed and can be very dangerous.
