Hey, although I know they are common, I was wondering if anyone else knew what this error messaged means:

    Code:
2011-08-16 09:45:32 [INFO] Read timed out
    2011-08-16 09:45:32 [SEVERE] java.net.SocketException: Socket closed
    2011-08-16 09:45:32 [SEVERE] at java.net.SocketOutputStream.socketWrite(SocketOutputStream.java:99)
    2011-08-16 09:45:32 [SEVERE] at java.net.SocketOutputStream.write(SocketOutputStream.java:136)
    2011-08-16 09:45:32 [SEVERE] at java.io.BufferedOutputStream.flushBuffer(BufferedOutputStream.java:65)
    2011-08-16 09:45:32 [SEVERE] at java.io.BufferedOutputStream.flush(BufferedOutputStream.java:123)
    2011-08-16 09:45:32 [SEVERE] at java.io.DataOutputStream.flush(DataOutputStream.java:106)
    2011-08-16 09:45:32 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.NetworkWriterThread.run(SourceFile:116)
And if there are any work arounds/ fixes ? Our server seems to output this multiple times a day, and at least crashes 2-3 times a day due to a Read time out.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Same problem, except mine just says "Read timed out", and then my console freezes. -_-

Thats exactly what have to, but sometimes he doesn'y even say read time dout but just freezez and the wole serever is freezing in game! I heard it got something to do with plugins, essentials + Mcmmo = BAD, Permission also couses errors...Some one suggestions?

  5. Getting this quite a lot recently.
Maybe we should list all out plugins? Try and find a common one causing the error?
That is, if it's a plugin causing this.

Those Socket closed errors have to do with the connection your player has on the other side. Make sure they have updated Java, their graphics card drivers, and are not getting packet loss on their internet connection. Also, make sure they are putting in the port number :#### after your IP address when they log into the server. It is a really hard error to track down, but at least it's on their end and not yours

What I REALLY hate is the "/IP ADDRESS lost connection"

    That, my friends, is ANNOYING.
