In order to centralize support of our legacy projects, we will no longer be providing support on Bukkit. Please use www.spout.org for support with our projects going forward.

in my opinion the title doesn't fit because it says "unleashing the flow of endless possibilities" but spout doesn't support any other client side plugin like zombe's or SPC or mod loader

Yes, because those plugins aren't necessary with Spout.

Did you read any of the info on the OP other than the title? We don't support client mods because we are planning to allow for client plugins with our own API. The majority of current client mods will conflict with the class files that Spoutcraft has modified.

You really should use quotes, as you sound like you are talking to yourself. ;)

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHY THIS IS HAPPENING??

With the current RB of Spout and CB1060 on my server; when a player joins with the current Spoutcraft launcher, the STARS in the night sky show for a second and then disappear. The sky seems to take on a slightly different tint, as well. No amount of fiddling with the render/view settings seem to bring the stars back on any of the clients. You can also join the game vanilla, and of course everything looks fine.

With the current RB of Spout REMOVED and CB1060 on my server; Both the vanilla MC launcher and the Spoutcraft launcher can join and the stars look fine.

It's VERY odd... and I can't figure out if it's something I'm doing wrong. There are absolutely no errors in the server log.

This mod looks better and better every day. Great work guys.

An earlier development build (a few days ago) worked with Zan's minimap mod, but later builds broke the concurrent functionality of these 2 mods.

    Another cool mod is controlpack.

Would it be possible to make these mods compatible?

    Thanks.

Why is how many chunks a user can load a problem? I actually love those settings because I have a horrible computer so it helps! :)

First of all. Spout ftw, it's kinda like that guy who managed to build a 2-bit computer within minecraft (at least, allegedly).. Having a major API for a major API

What I was wondering, just out of interest (and I apologize if it's already been asked.. the thread is far too long to thoroughly read through.), was whether or not you had considered, planned for, etc the official mod-support planned by Mojang, (although mod's are encouraged already, I read an article on notch's blog that suggested a more-intergrated system in the future, including the purchase of mods by Mojang for inclusion, plus that menu item IS still mods & textures..)

And I was also wondering what, if any, implications it might have for Spout when/if it's included in the Vanilla edition.

I have been speculating about it on other threads when the question of client modding with Spout arose and yeah, I figure it's time I asked. :p

    Thanks for Spout,

The latest dev builds fixed the memory leaks, but also broke all of the widgets and such in mcMMO. Doh.

Notch's modding API is not an API is is simply the released source code, bukkit will likely continue as the server api therefore and it will only speed-up the change over at updates. This means that we are not wasting our time either as spout should stay relevant. Also if it is ever included into the main distribution of minecraft that would be amazing :)

I never doubted spouts importance, nor it remaining important even with official mod-support... Nor was I reffering to the current MC modpacks as an API .

What I meant was, with client-side modding becoming official, wouldn't it cause problems with spout not being compatible with other client-modifications and cause class-clashes? Oh wait, you could just have it included in Mojangs official supported mods, which would mean that their mod-support would have to identify which mods are compatible with one another rather than you would have to do the integration.. Hadn't thought of that ... Would that be correct though?

    Thanks again,
    Marcos Cosmos

The purpose of this, like bukkit is to provide an api meaning that all mods are compatible and call functions in the api rather then editing class files to achieve a result.

Yes I know, but I also know that SpoutCraft itself edits some class files on installation to facilitate the server api, is that not correct? (It's been mentioned a lot here)

Oh, sorry I forgot to specify SpoutCraft. Anyway I'm gunna take that as a yes to my previous question.

    Thanks again!,

That's not how you do it. But in any case you should just buy Minecraft, really it's not a lot of money.

I will be buying it myself as soon as I get through my upcoming exams so my mum won't refuse because of all the study I should be doing

I am beginning to think the integration of Optifine was a huge mistake. I've always known the Opti series of mods was very hard on older computers, but it seems its integration with Spout has made it a hundred times worse. Almost every single one of my users is constantly complaining about horrible frame rates and stuttering, even on the lowest possible graphics settings. This did not happen when using the unmodified vanilla client.

What is the point of even having a separate client for Spout if it is so hard on peoples' computers that only the fastest and newest can run it?

    Top_Cat

If you use something like mcmmo with textures chances are this is due to a memory leak with textures and not optifine. All you have done is connected two things which arn't, unless you can provide credible evidence that optifine is the cause of your issues, at least that it persists with the latest dev, I'm going to dismiss that as a possible cause.

You people dismiss a lot of things. I know I am certainly not the only one that has noticed this. Probably why this is remaining so horrifically buggy. Kind of hard to fix anything when you deny its very existence out of hand with no research at all.

I know for a fact Optimine/Fog and its descendant Optifine create a huge performance decrease for the majority of people. I know this because for as long as Optimine has existed, I have prepared an "improved Minecraft.jar" for some of my users, and well over half of them always reported that upon entering the game, they had extreme frame rate drops, regardless of settings. Even with things like mip-mapping turned off and fog levels set to tiny, the low framerates persisted. After doing some research, I found that only the people who had particularly powerful computers remained unaffected. People with older computers and especially people with laptops near-universally reported performance decreases.

And for the record, I do have mcmmo installed, but I only just recently started using it. (Recently, as in just yesterday) My users have been reporting lowered frame rates with Spout long before that, and with Optimine long before Spout was even a concept.

Don't assume too much. Me and my users have the most current dev builds of the client and plugin. I know how to keep things up to date. I also monitor the memory use of my java processes with VisualVM, and haven't recognized anything that remotely resembles a memory leak.
