Best mods for a private modded muiltplayer server?!

So my close friends and I want to make a small server where there is a little challenge and some fun stuff that can be added. We don't cheats or anything to make the game easier just things to add to make the game longer....more entertaining ect. Does anyone know of good mods and what the best ones that are compatible with each other? Thanks

 

iconomy and make a small town, pvp plugins are always fun, competive stuff like boat races etc,

ohh sorry :/ never really done posting before and not sure where to put things. How did i put it in the wrong place? And thanks those sound like they are fun...but like i am trying to take a mix of like what your talking about in the ieconomy and get things that are compatible with that and make a loaded modded server fir with level ups and monsters and ect. Just so like we don't get bored and there is something always to while trying to stay alive.
