SpreadingMossy - Mossy cobblestone can now spread!
    Version: 1.4.4
    Plugin Author: @steaks4uce

About: This plugin allows mossy cobblestone to spread to cobblestone (just like in the upcoming 1.8), the cobblestone doesn't require mossy cobblestone nearby to spread. Once it spreads (configurable time) you can hit the cobblestone to remove the moss.
Configuration and Commands: You can edit the spread time in its configuration file which is generated on first use. There are no commands you need or can use. To remove the mossy just hit the mossy cobblestone.

    Download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20607155/SpreadingMossy.jar
Source: I will not be making this open-source as it stands, possibly in the future.

Known Issues: Removed cobblestone coming back as mossy cobblestone.

    Features:
    • Mossy cobblestone can now spread.
    • Configuration for spread time.
    • Remove moss by hitting the mossy cobblestone.
Changelog: Version 1.0: Some beta testing and early development.
Version 1.2.5: Fixed spreading to air.
Version 1.3.2: Several bug fixes with timer also added moss removal.
Version 1.4.3: First release to public at version 1.4.3.
Version 1.4.4: Fixed loading issues and config generation.

Heyhey! I tried using this plugin and it worked really well, I think it's great, but when I was punching away the blocks, 1 that was cobble regenerated and turned into mossy cobble, I had the spreadtime to 10, ( :p ) and the plugin didn't accept that the block was missing before it put moss on it :p I know nothing about plugins, but that creeped me out a little when I punched it out and it came back  xD Nice plugin, overall :)

Lol thanks, that is a bug I'm working on fixing.

Please update to build 1.4.4 as soon as possible, it doesn't fix the invisible glitch but does fix other glitches. I'll have the invisible glitch fixed by tomorrow.

You should make it optional to set a specific item to remove the moss with so you can hit it without destroying the moss. Great plugin though. Thanks!

Yupyup! I like his idea! Kinda how WorldEdit can bind actions to tools, you could go /mossyrem and the tool in your hand can break it like a normal block ^_^ once again, I know nothing about plugins, but considering some more complicated plugins being out there, I'm sure its possible :p Keep up the good work!

Hey, testing this now for my RPG server. Two problems.
    1. It seems that only cobblestone which is PLACED by a player can grow moss. And since we've already made a few structures, one of which is a castle, would it be possible for the plugin to seek out cobblestone on it's own rather than listening for players placing blocks? (Especially so since we use WorldEdit quite a bit)
    2. After knocking the moss off some cobble, it doesn't seem to re-grow. This is an issue as I want people on my server to have to clean their building occasionally, to give it a more realistic feel.

Any chance of an option in the config for either of these?
Is the First one even possible?

Ironically, these are exactly what I'm working on right now lol, I'll have it out soon.

Please update, It now works with Bukkit 1060.

I've encountered a bizarre issue. I have minecraft 1.7.3, and on the private server which I use for my friends, with this plugin installed, it grows not only moss, but more mossy stone.

I was hoping to use this to make an abandoned city by the sea, but, it's kind of buggy at the moment, it's quite annoying to build a ruined house and come back to find all the window holes filled in, and the doorway non existent.

Great idea, needs some ironing out, hope you sort this out soon. I'll disable it in the meantime, it's counter productive to have to remove more stone than I place.

EDIT: I would also like to note that it is VERY unnerving to go away from my computer, standing in an abandoned building which once had windows, and doorways, and to come back and find myself in absolute darkness, whilst the building tries to eat me... slowly... So, you have (unintentionally) added to the horror theme of Minecraft. Good job on that accident.

This has been my own experience. Horrifying and awesome for that, but not what I intended or wanted.

Love love the idea of moss spreading :D

So does this make it impossible to collect mossy cobblestone then? as it would always be converted to cobblestone upon an attempt to mine it?

Also I find the description confusing, does it spread to nearby cobblestone from mossy cobblestone? Or does it just spontaneously get mossy? If the former what constitutes "nearby"?

If it spreads to nearby, and is still gather-able, then I definitely want this plugin.

No, it is not gatherable, although that would be a good option to put in as a config, along with the amount of time it takes to spread.

Thank you for the quick reply, but I still need the second answer, will all cobblestone on my map slowly turn to cobblestone? or will it be more like grass, where it spreads from mossy block to non-mossy block? Also how large a gap will keep it at bay?

It seems to spread from wherever it randomly wants, starting with one block and slowly growing to the others. You do not seem to NEED a mossy cobble to start it off.

That's unfortunate, but thank you for answering. I would like to have it so that you do need it, so if there is any way to make that configurable I would greatly appreciate it. Until then I will sadly not be downloading this plugin. I will be watching however, and wish you luck!

Long time no see steaks4uce. You will notice that this thread has now been placed into the Inactive Plugin subforum.
If you wish to revive this plugin, please ensure that you update and test compatibility with the latest recommended Bukkit build before reporting your original post, asking for it to be moved back to the release forum.

    Thanks for your time.
