    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

Yes and yes. The simple fact is I'm explaining to you it does not work. The only way to achieve what you were trying to answer is to set a channel to cross-world-chat: false

You are looking INSIDE the Jar file. Your web browser didn't listen to the download site, and thought that the .jar was actually a .zip (they're actually compressed using the same format), and it renamed it. Rename your HeroChat.zip into HeroChat.jar and put that in your plugins folder.

If this ever happens again (with this or any other plugin), you will know when you see a META-INF folder when you open a zip. Again, just change .zip to .jar and put it in the plugins folder and start the server.

Alright im gonna ask a noob question. So i thought i was doing this all right until I kept going into my server and I noticed that whatever i tried, i couldn't for the life of me get the [Admin] to appear before my username. I tried looking around EVERYWHERE for a tutorial about this but no luck... Can anyone help? D: Much Thanks~

Yes, just not from the global files. (ME using P3.1.6)
Never had that happen, it probably isn't Herochat. Please go test it, and just use WE and Herochat, and tell me if it's happening.
You need to use Permissions, and you would need to be in the Admin group

I have the problem useing suffixes.
Instead of showing: [Admin] <my name>
    It shows: [Admin][Admin] <my name>

What am i doing wrong? :O

And when i remove the prefix before my name in HeroChat config the code f**ks up.
And when i remove the prefix in permissions plug in the [Admin] wont show.

    WHAT TO DO? :O

Someone may have already asked this, because I swear I saw it somewhere, and now reading through this thread I can't find it again! I have an issue where my config file seems to keep resetting itself, regardless of any changes I've made the previous night. Is there any particular reason for this?

  23. Offline

    PureTryOut

I have no errors in the log because when I make changes to the config file it doesn't load HeroChat at all.
I don't know why because the Jar is in the right directory and so is the config file. It only happens when I make changes, without changes it works fine.

So your log/console don't say anything at all about HeroChat? That seems unlikely; even if when you save the file it's changing permissions on the file and HeroChat can't load it (not even sure how likely that would be) it should still throw an error. Do you get any errors at all in your config? What happens if you type "/plugins" in-game (or just "plugins" in your server console) after HeroChat fails to load? is it still there? Did you try editing the file and doing "/ch reload" in-game?

    @DThielke
Anyway to integrate the plugin factions into HeroChat? Basically in the default chat, factions adds the faction tag in front of the player; IE: <Cold> BeTrayed: Hi Guys! .... but when I installed HeroChat this functionality stopped. Possible?

It's right in the original post, in big red letters;). When your server stops or you do a /reload, HeroChat gets an "unload" signal from Bukkit (the technical term is onDisable). When that happens, HeroChat saves whatever configuration it has in memory to the config.yml file over any changes you might have made by hand; this is so any channels you create in-game still exist when the server comes back up/reload completes, etc.

Otherwise, servers that allow players to make private/faction/clan/etc channels would lose them all everytime the server restarted. That'd be a big pain in the butt.

If you edit the config file, either a) stop your server first, edit, then start it back up, or b) edit the config and then do a "/ch reload" command in-game to make HeroChat reload the config WITHOUT saving over it first. That's the whole reason the "/ch reload" command exists.

I knew I had read it somewhere, but stupid ol' me was looking through all of the recent posts, not at the original one right in my face. Man, it's idiots like me that make this frustrating for the devs. Lol! Thanks for responding to me, regardless! :)

When I reload the server (so the HeroChat fails to load), and I type /plugins, it doesn't show HeroChat. And when I type /ch reload, it says: Unknown console command. Type "help" for help.
And when I look into my config file nothing is changed, it's still there with the changes I made. And I have no idea what have could go wrong with editing the YAML file because I edited it like all of the YAML files and everything else is working.

Hey, no problem! That isn't frustrating, it's just when people are rude about it. Thanks for being polite! Hope you get everything working!

Hmm, the symptoms sound like it actually isn't loading the plugin at all - and you're saying that it DOES load initially, and just on /reload it is missing...

Could you post (or pastebin) a /plugins and /version from your console? I want to see if there is a bigger picture here that we could be missing; this sounds very unusual. I've never heard of this happening before.

    Of course here it is:

    /Plugins:
    Code:
WorldGuard, CommandBook, iZone, WorldEdit, GroupManager, and somehow also Permissions while I have no file of that plugin at all but just ignore that.
    /Version:
    Code:
This server is running Craftbukkit version git-Bukkit-0.0.0-945-g73697a4-b1000jnks (MC1.7.3)
The server is also running with McMyAdmin because it's a server on Servercraft
    Is this enough?

EDIT: Ooh with the /version command it also says at the last line:
This server is also sporting some funky dev build of Bukkit!
I have no idea what that is.
