I know this question has most likely been asked millions of times but i cant find any thread on it. If anyone can help that would be very good. As-long as the software can open a .yml file in a text form and can be saved ect, (and works on a mac!) please tell me. thanks! :)

Info: Im running Mac OS X Snow leopard 10.6.8

yes, try Notepad ++. however, whenever editing .yml files, you have to use 4 spaces instead of a tab, otherwise it screws up. With notepad++, you can set the tab button to automatically use 4 spaces instead. Notepad++ also lets you see things colour coded by type and makes it easy to view many different file types

@Above poster: He said a MAC...

@OP: TextEdit (built into the OS) works fine.

The parser does not care how many spaces there are, as long as they are only spaces, and that each item on a level has the same indentation.

  8. Fair enough. However, I use textmate to do everything on the mac, from writing php, to emailing parents and mark down blogging for my site. I don't use pages or word for mac, etc. So it was a small investment - since it was an all in one. That's one.

Ah. I prefer Espresso for development on the Mac. But my laptop runs Windoz.

Is TextEditor the same as TextEdit?

TextEdit works fine, but I personally use TextWrangler whilst editing YML files on my mac :)
