Upgrade to Java 1.7 is a must to increase performance! Follow this amazing guide and do all steps: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/tutorial-reducing-lag-and-possibly-fixing-corrupt-worlds.20911/
Use the plugin PerformanceTweaks @ http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/me...0-08-disc-usage-minimizer-and-more-818.15827/ I'm running it on the latest RB 928 with no issues. Make sure you turn off ChunkPersistance in the config files or you may have issues. Prepare to be amazed and barely ever see Can't keep up messages. Let me know how it works out for you. Check my server out if you'd like.
