Official Mod Support For Minecraft Means...?

Will bukkit cease to exist after the official mod support for minecraft comes about in 1.7?
I want to learn to develop plugins but if theres going to be a brand new way I'd probably just wait, anyone know whats up with this?

 

Modding support is mainly singleplayer so yes bukkit will eray
and plugins get better, now singleplayer mods will be easier to create

 

I imagine the biggest change will be that we should get new recommended builds faster after a new version of minecraft is released, since the devs should have access to the changes sooner.

It may well also decrease the number of bugs in vanilla, since the devs will be able to spot them and feedback to Mojang before release.
