Is Bukkit supposed to run slower under Windows?

First I tried Bukkit on Windows 7 64-bit. It works fine for 2 players, then when the third connects it begins to lag horribly even to me, and I'm in the same LAN as the server.

Then I tried Bukkit on a different computer with Windows 7 32-bit. Same issue with the third player.

Lastly I installed Slackware Linux 64-bit on the second computer. Everything works fine and the server is only limited by internet bandwidth.

Is this supposed to happen or is there something wrong with my computers? I've been running my server on Slackware happily for the past month or so but I still wonder why it didn't run on Windows. [pig]

Yes, the bukkit programmers have a chip on their shoulder and they waste one cpu cycle per every two on windows machines only to force people to buy linux licenses which they have corporate stake in.
It's a pretty dirty trick, but they're making a lot of money, so who can blame them.

His point was that it's not intended.
Just windows sux. But it is more popular and we are more familiar with it and we dont want to switch to linux.

Windows 7 uses 1GB of RAM just for the OS alone, so your server has that much less RAM to work with, so yes.

Pretty much any server will run slower on Windows, not just minecraft.
