If you like this you might also like CommsViewer.com which generates live status blocks for Teamspeak, Ventrilo & Mumble to embed on you website.

Hi im using Hamachi to run a private server for me and my friends. The plugin is installed correctly and says so on load up. I put it in the correct information into http://minecraftviewer.com/banners but the "server times out". Any suggestions?

I'm afraid hamachi won't work you need to have a server which is accessible from the internet for the plugin to work with minecraftviewer.com.

So I am assuming that I have to make a new server banner everytime my IP changes, because it obviously does not update itself from the DNS name...

Small gripe, split up the world names with some sort of separator on the small banner, as they all mash into one long word at the moment :p

Connections with dynamic IP's aren't really suitable for running servers, which is one of the reason we didn't add this feature from the start. I would strongly recommend using a real host for servers instead of a none static home connection which really aren't up for the task, and are generally against your T&C's for you internet connection.

That said we'll be adding dns support in an future update.

I'm currently working on large banner customisation, including custom text colors and background images. DNS will be next.

This is already done, you need to update your plugin :)

Normal connections people use aren't up for the task, this is true. I'm not normal, though.. neither is my connection at home. Thanks for the support, though. I would think that the banner scripting would use the information provided it to assemble the image, not the information that it gleans at the time of processing, but the information that was input to generate the image.

If it did that, then it would be useful for us non-static home connection servers. Just a suggestion. ^_^

Not everyones home connection is sub ADSL2+ SOHO and with fiber just around the corner hell0 100mb home connections.

Well I'm not going to make anymore until somone replys about the first lot how can I with out feedback.

Still no where near what a server connection has though ;-)
Yes I saw them thanks, something you'll be able to upload as a custom background once I'm done here, hopefully some time today :)

I was actually referring to MC servers but the other guy or gal is referring to WEB hosts and of course not lol if expect to see any kind of traffic other than a personal blog or RDP/ Home maintainance gateway.

But for MC I would say ADSL2+ is fine I run a 20 - 30 player server on that connection just fine with room to spare hosting privates matchs of SCII and other games with friends.

Its all about how you manage what you have and what you do to minimize the bandwidth usage. Web hosting id pressume you would want a near isp level backbone of over 1gb's up and down.

No is about latency and stability of latency, EU connections just don't deliver that, you'll be lag city, but this off topic so we'll end it here.

Can you add domen support? For example for server.minecraft.com IP in the image?

    Please read the other posts

Quick update on customisation of the 560x95px banner:-
Basic support is now complete, just need to add the ability to recall / edit your uploaded images (effectively save and edit theme) and we'll be done.

So hopefully just one or two night's work and we'll be ready to release it.

I added the plugin, edited my server properties but the website can't find my server. I'm playing online right now so I know the server is up.... any suggestions? I host my own server, the NAT is open.

If your using NAT (which is always a bad idea for any server) then the problem will be there, you'll likely need to DMZ or port forward the server port for it to work

I was wrong, I'm not using NAT. I am using port forwarding to allow port 25565 which is what my server runs on.

Server is TCP, make sure its also forwarding UDP (which is what MinecraftViewer uses) or it wont work.

If a quick GD/ImageMagick image generator can cause lag on someone's server, they probably shouldn't be using it in the first place, because my God that's crap hardware.

As someone who runs game servers for a living; you would be so surprised what will cause lag no matter what the hardware spec.

Don't forget if you serving the images off your game server and they are used on forums like these, you could see many thousands of requests a minute / second.

All is working fine but after some hours i get this:

The Server is online and working after that (no crash), but the banner say that the Server is offline :(

That's an error for the main server not MinecraftViewer, just looks like a player disconnected tbh.
Just looked up your server and seems to be showing as online, likely just a blip. If it gets offline once it will cache it for 10mins.

how can i do it that my other worlds are shown in the banner?
i only see the world and the world_nether, but i have multiverse

sehe gerade an deinem banner du hast nen deutschen server^^
also wenns geht bitte auf deutsch antworten^^

The banners include all worlds that bukkit knows about, subject to them fitting the the space of course.

If multiverse doesn't use bukkit's world features they won't show I'm afraid.

This would only really happen if you're using a low-low-spec server, or on a host that has a load of other servers on it (aka a game server host) in which case you wouldn't generally host your website on it as well, you're asking for trouble if you do since those servers are getting hit hard already, so the web experience would be pretty poor.

That worked!!! I had to create a new forward the same as my Minecraft but used UDP instead of TCP. Thank you for all your help.
