    So... right now, we're looking for essentials, but all we can find is the plugin but for spigot servers.
    Kind of a stupid question, but bear with me. Do spigot plugins work on bukkit, and vice versa?

    And if anyone knows where I can find 1.8 essentials for bukkit, that'd be awesome too.
    Thanks!

    We are migrating to Sponge, Spigot is not supported.

    @Xennpai Although Vidsify already responded to you, I wanted to elaborate a little bit :)

    99% of the time plugins that are made for Spigot will work on Craftbukkit. This is because originally Spigot was a fork of Craftbukkit, so they have very similar code, though Spigot's code has been more optimized. There are a few things that Spigot will have that Craftbukkit doesn't such as respawning a player when they die (there are more differences, but that is the one that I can think of right now). So if someone made a plugin where if a player respawned after dying using Spigot's method, then that part of the plugin wouldn't work on Craftbukkit.

    As for Essentials, Necrodoom stated that Essentials is moving to Sponge. While this is true, the Spigot team has forked the current "latest" version of Essentials and updated it to work on 1.8, which is the version that you're most likely using. ALSO Since the Bukkit team is no longer developing Craftbukkit, the Spigot team has been updating Craftbukkit & Spigot since 1.8 came out.

    Link to Essentials for 1.8+ if needed: https://hub.spigotmc.org/jenkins/job/Spigot-Essentials/

    @oceantheskatr TeamCity is a java compiler/build manager. Im not sure what you are on at.

    Anyway, Essentials team does not support these spigot forks despite them claiming otherwise. Id recommend looking at Sponge instead.

    @Necrodoom_V2 Whoops, fixing that!

    It is very unlikely that a large amount of people will be switching to Sponge any time soon as it's still very much in development, and not many plugins are supported on it. As long as Spigot's keeping up what they're doing and getting away with it, Sponge won't get much attention.
