    Hello,
recently I found something that can endanger every Minecraft server. It is type of hack that allows you to download the chunks that are loaded! Like that every amazing building can be stolen?!?
    Thanks!

    This isn't fair!

  4. @SinestroWhite Well there's nothing you can do about it. It's not a huge problem, anyway.

I think that when servers reset they should just release the old map for download...

@Irantwomiles It is a huge problem for me because you may have paid for this building and everyone can have it dowloaded!?!

@SinestroWhite even if that didn't exist I'm sure anyone capable of taking screenshots could easily copy your build.

@Irantwomiles I don't mean something small! I mean really big building.

A possible way would be to use something like orebfuscator to replace hidden blocks with tnt and redstone. This will cause the structure to blow up when loaded, however they could always use a world-editing program to remove the tnt. The only other way would be to not allow anyone to play...

First of all, it's not a hack it's a mod. Secondly it cannot be stopped. As long as the modder maintains the mod and keeps updating it, there is no way for you to stop it from happening.

  15. @SinestroWhite To me, the whole over protective nature of builds is kinda silly. Just have a look around some Minecraft related material, see people showing off the builds that they have made, often making them available for download. Because that's the way it's fun. Sure, they're probably only posting about it because they want to show off, but they made it for fun, not for any personal gain. Minecraft is not there for your personal profit. It's a game, have fun playing it, and don't concern yourself too much about what other people are doing.

@Sabersek Firstly, well it all really depends on your definition of a "hack". I know of times when it was simply intended as "using something in a way it wasn't originally intended". Some stand by the more recent definition of "to gain unauthorised access to a computer system". Some will see all mods as hacks, some will see no mods as hacks. Whatever your view point, I see no reason that a mod like this shouldn't be considered a hack if a different mod - like x-ray - is. :p Secondly, the mod author doesn't need to update it at all to avoid detection - it's completely undetectable.

@SinestroWhite Well, this won't matter too much. Either you have a big server and there are people that play on it, and there IS someone that downloads you world, everyone will immediately know its your world because your server would be big enough for them to know about it. OR your server is smaller and not many people play on it and there isn't anyone to download you world in the first place.
    Hope this helps,

  17. @KingIngot I wouldn't agree with that necessarily - sure bigger servers are more likely to have their world downloaded, but you're by no means immune to world downloading, no matter what the size is. For example, I remember one player who downloaded my parkour map because he wanted to practice it :p

@AdamQpzm By maintaining I mean updating the mod/hack so that is is compatible with the latest Minecraft versions (since, as we know, servers are continuously being updated). Sorry for the bump, just clarifying what I meant.
