    Hello!

This is my first post here and I hope someone can help me.

I installed Group Manager to my Big Dig 1.5.2 server but it seems like it is not working. I'm pretty new to all this and probably am missing something.

I left all the permissions etc pretty much as it came when I installed it. I was under the impression that when a new person logs in to the server they will be put in the default group automatically. It says build: false for that group so I thought that the new person would not be able to break any blocks but when I tested it I could go about breaking anything I wanted.

Can someone tell me what is going on and what I may be missing. If you need more specific info from me I am happy to provide it.

    Thank you so much!

Welcome to the forums! Glad to help you!

If you'd like to learn to do this yourself, follow these steps. First, go into your groups.yml file and copy all the content. Paste the content here: http://yaml-online-parser.appspot.com/. This will let you know of any errors in your file. It will pinpoint the error to a "line #, column #" which you can then use to find the error in your .yml file and fix it.

Alternatively, you can also copy all of the content in your groups.yml folder and paste it here: http://pastebin.com/. This will allow us to look at it and find the error for you, and direct you on how to fix it or fix it for you.

Hope this helps! Please remember to tag me in your reply using "@RetroNuke" if you want me to be notified of your reply! (Like I did at the beginning of this post with your name)

    @RetroNuke,

Hi, Thanks so much for your reply. I tried the parser but wasn't sure if I did it right. I didn't see where I should be looking for problems.

I pasted the groups.yml to the pastebin, here is the link http://pastebin.com/0fjttcpi

I would love to know how to fix this myself. Thank you so much for your help!

Well.. there's no errors in the parser, so that's a good sign. As to why your default group can build with ' build: false ' set is a brain fart for me. Perhaps they're getting a build command from one of your global groups you're inheriting from?

I would like to suggest, as a fellow server owner, PermissionsEx (http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/permissionsex/). It doesn't have a global groups folder, but global groups are a pain anyways. PermissionsEx uses only one file, permissions.yml, where you can set up all of the permissions for all of your groups. Being that it's also a .yml file, you can still go to your globalgroups.yml and transfer over all of the permission nodes to permissions.yml that you have set up. It's a highly recognized plugin and widely supported, and I will recommend it.

Otherwise, if you can please paste your globalgroups.yml as well? That way I can look at it also.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Oh the frustration...

Here is the global groups file http://pastebin.com/8VXd4GTJ

Thanks so much for your help! I'd really like to get group manager working.

Are you absolutely certain that your default group can build? When you tested it, did you take away your OP / '*' permissions that you may have had personally? If you had these, you would bypass the 'build: false'. Has this been tested on any other users? If you need a test dummy, I'd be glad to help you out with that on your server.

By the looks of both of these files, everything SHOULD be working perfectly on GroupManager's end. So, onto the next theory!

I'm assuming being a new server owner, you're using Essentials. You should also be using EssentialsAntiBuild. If you're not, get it by just googling it. After you've installed it onto your server, please go into your Essentials folder and open up your config.yml (/plugins/Essentials/config.yml). When you have that open, bring up the 'Find' dialog box by pressing Ctrl+F at the same time. In the search box, type ' build: ' (without the quotation marks). When you click 'Find Next', it should snap you to the first instance of that phrase in the config file, which is in the EssentialsAntiBuild area. Make sure that ' build: ' is set to true. You can continue going through each value, reading the comments (green text) to find out what each value does. Once you're satisfied, restart your server and test again.

I logged in with someone else's account and tested it (on my computer if that makes a difference). I could break blocks. The color prefixes are not working either btw.

I'd be happy for you to come on and try it. Is RetroNuke your minecraft username? I will whitelist you on our server. Let me know when you want to come on.
