No. Spigot has always been Bukkit's hard work with just a few modifications. They may have framed their Minecraft version updates as their hard work, but it was us spending weeks before they spent hours to finish their update. :)

@AdamQpzm @bwfcwalshy @timtower IMO, Spigot is 100x better, the community is a lot less serious and my threads get replied to A LOT faster, and I can get monetary value for my plugins, that I put hard work into and the rules are a lot less strict

  5. @XgXXSnipz Good for you? Personally I don't care I don't get any money out of this, that's not why I do it. I make plugins and answer threads asking for help because I want to help the community and, if I'm honest, because I enjoy helping. Not to line my pockets.

  7. @timtower Unfortunately it seems like there are some trying to make a quick buck without helping out those that made their profit possible :(

I personally think they're moving to spigot because the developers rarely get donations for their hard work on their plugins + over the 4 years I've been visiting this site and downloading plugins & such, I rarely see server owners thanking the plugin devs for the plugin itself. I guess a lot of them are thinking time is money or something like that.

  10. @Yive I don't know, I only allow donations on PrisonMain and in the last month I have got about $24. It isn't even that big of a plugin.

It cuts both ways... I donated $25 each to 3 plugins plus Bukkit itself. Only one plugin author thanked me for my donation. I got no thanks for the other three donations.

@bwfcwalshy well apparently plugins like mcmmo has only received ~$30 in donations over all these years.

@Bobcat00 That's a shame, I always thank people who donate to my stuff. I guess some people don't have proper manors any more :p

Lol hardwork you get paid for. Like 7 bucks for a plugin that filled chests will random items...

Seriously what happened to open source?

There are still plenty of open source plugins and spigot itself is free.

I'm writing plugins which will be free and open source. But in the ideal model, we'd have the best plugin developers able to spend more developing open source plugins because they got enough donations that they didn't have to work a dayjob to eat.

I've donated for one plugin (Craftbook) which is also available free. I've decided not to donate for several other plugins where the cost/functionality didn't seem that great a ratio.
