Help! Players in my server can't consume food!

Hello,

I began hosting my own server a few days ago, and am having a problem consuming food. Neither i as the host or other players seem to be able to correctly consume food. This was first noticed while underground, as neither of us can consume food. After holding down right click in the attempt to eat, it just keeps making the crunching sound, but doesn't use the item or fill the hunger bar. I uninstalled all of my plugins, and this did not correct the problem. I do notice that when i stop mining underground and go back to the surface, i can consume the food. Is this supposed to happen? what can i do? please help!!

Hi, I had this issue once and I know the answer. There is 2 things that could be causing this. If you have essentials protect remove it. After you have done that if they still can't eat add the permissions modifyworld.* and essentials.build This will enable them to interact with the things in your server such as pressure plates, doors, killing, picking up items, and eating.

Like I said I'm new to hosting my own sever. Is there a guide or tutorial on here on how to install and set up permissions?

 

If it's saying in chat
YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO INTERACT WITH <FoodNameGoesHere>
Then you already have a permissions plugin installed and you just need to go into the plugin's config folder and into the groups file to change build: 'false' to build: 'true' or however it looks.

If it doesn't, then I recommend Essentials Group Manager for your permissions. It's the most simple.

Also, I had this thing with my mouse that would barely let me right click unless I hit it a certain way. Maybe you have the same thing.

 

There are hundred of guides. A simple google will show you the vast variety of tutorials.

Download the latest version of PermissionsEx or Essentials Group Manager and drag the file from your desktop into your servers "plugins" folder then do a reload/restart and it should generate a file called permissions.yml and config.yml or something close to that and thats where you add your permission nodes which can be found as said by skionz on google.
