Total noob and just got to ask....?

Hi. I am a father who rented a CraftBukkit server for my sons at the same place I host my domains. The server I rented there is 1.6.4 and I asked my host if they could update this to a more updated ver as the plugins starts to crash the server as they are for newer ver than our server. I got a message back that they could not do so because it was stopped by Wesley Wolfe. I see here at the forums that a new ver of CraftBukkit can be downloaded and wonder how I can get this solved also with my host to get my sons server up to date?
I ask because I am a noob on this and don't have a clue, and btw, there is nothing stupid in a question, stupidity come by the answer!

 

The answer to this question depends on what you want to do with the server?
Basically you cannot download any versions of the CraftBukkit because of the intellectual properties claims, which can take several years to sort out, because we are in international waters.
Then what are your options? Go for another project, which may also be taken down because of DMCA?
Or go for the new business of Microsoft/Mojang and rent a Realms? But with no plugins, only the vanilla Minecraft 1.8.
But lastly I would say, that your hosting company has not been taking due diligence in obtaining the versions of CraftBukkit at all times.
