more ram!@!!!!

i need to know how can i set more ram to be used on my server....all that runs on the computer is my server so i dont need all the ram thats nothing used and id like to stop some of the lag...

its a 32 bit windows xp and i have java...runs in cmd...if that helps.. i hope theres a way to do this if not it should really be added

 

@aeyrep How are you starting your server? There is a very easy way to change the amount of RAM, but we need to know the contents of run.bat. Please paste them here.

 

with 32bit windows you are limited to 1.5gb of ram allocated to the server.

 

Use Linux, I can allocate 2.5GB memory.

 

I recommend Ubuntu 11.04 Desktop 64-bit edition. It's good for server newbs like you.

 

Using any 32bit OS will give you that 1.5 GB Java heap size limitation. Switch to any x64 OS to be able to allocate more RAM. I have a tutorial on setting up Ubuntu in my sig.

 

I got rid of that error by right-clicking run.bat -> edit and by changing the -Xms512M and Xmx512M to 1024M and that error gone

 

So how much ram does your PC actually have?
