Wait... Bukkit has ended?!?!? NO!!!!! :(

  3. I would bet a large amount of money that they have been co-opted by Microsoft to become part of the Mojang team.

so is it safe to assume bukkit is completely done now, since Mojang is being bought?

  6. No idea whatsoever.

Assuming that Bukkit can't do more damage than Spinge or any other, i could imagine that it would be a move to get more trusted by the community on the short/mid-term - the big question is, how relevant it is by now. Sponge will likely be in place within some time, and license-wise it's also more flexible. Yet still many servers simply run on Bukkit or spigot and the like, so it could be a move to "keep things moving" - HOWEVER, they still have to find a way around the dmca, i don't think they'll invest millions just for that, and i also can't tell their (short/mid/long-term) strategies.

I don't think EvilSeph left. He wanted to stop the project, Jens jumped in, kicked him out, called up Curse, got the accounts, passwords, etc. and took control. From there, all the other staff members left.

It would had been more productive to have worked with Evilseph... but... kids will be kids.

  10. I would think Blood is Bloodshot, behind mcpc-plus and cauldron. If so I have more faith in him than in Sk89q which says a lot.

Amen. Much love to the Bukkit community. I hope everyone understands that just because you can't download CraftBukkit for your servers, you can still use other builds similar to CraftBukkit such as Spigot and MCPC that haven't been taken down, and Spigot and (I think) MCPC can handle Bukkit plugins. Most of them should work, even if they haven't been updated to 1.8. [IMG]

Goodbye, Bukkit, and long live the community.

I just hope sk89q doesn't get a too big say on how the sponge api is defined. Just seeing how badly the worldguard/worldedit api's are designed makes me want to rip someone throat. This guy doesn't seem to get that it's better to make an easy to use API (Like bukkit has) than an extra clever super complex one.

  13. TheWorldGuard API is very old, though. Changing it would mean breaking a lot of plugins. I don't hope they make an extra simple API that then is inefficient and can't do what you need :p.

I am not a developer but the WorldEdit/WorldGuard plugins seemed very good to me. When you've used them you got to acknowledge sk89q has experience. Even if it breaks plugins (which we will surely have to face with a new API!), everything will be working again some time - at least that's my quasi-educated guess.

I've been using bukkit for years, and it's been great. I understand and support all of these staff members decision to quit, and I just want to offer my sincere thank you for all of the work you have done.

I feel I have to comment and say farewell to the wonderful Admins and Staff bukkit has had and I hope they stay in the community and continue to help everyone. I have been a proud bukkit user since about Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 and have loved the community that came with it. I am very sad to see so many staff go:( and hope that they enjoy what they do away from bukkit.
    Thanks,

  19. Well, I guess I need to say my farewells, even though I'm a Spigot user :p

I'll say it the best way I know: the last words of ending the BungeeCord proxy.

11:18:30 [INFO] Thank you and goodbye
